This standard shall be implemented from October 1, 1998. This standard is proposed by the Department of Medical Administration of the Ministry of Health. This standard was drafted by the Clinical Laboratory Center of the Ministry of Health and the Hospital Management Institute of the Ministry of Health; the Laboratory Department of the China-Japan Friendship Hospital, the Laboratory Department of the General Hospital of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, the Laboratory Department of the Union Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and the Laboratory Department of the Third Affiliated Hospital of Peking University Medical College participated in the drafting. The main drafters of this standard are Ye Yingwu, Wei Youren, Zhang Wenzheng, Kou Lijun, Chen Minjun, Cong Yujiang, and Chi Baolan. The Ministry of Health entrusted the Clinical Laboratory Center of the Ministry of Health to interpret this standard. 1 Scope Health Industry Standard of the People's Republic of China Classification and codes of clinical laboratory tests item Classification and codes of clinical laboratory tests itemWS/T102-1998 This standard specifies the classification and codes of clinical laboratory tests items. This standard is applicable to various medical, teaching, and scientific research units in the health system and health administrative departments at all levels; it is also applicable to manufacturers of instruments, equipment, reagents, etc. related to testing. 2 Coding method 2.1 This standard is a hierarchical code structure, excluding categories, and is divided into four layers. Each layer is represented by 1, 2, 3, and 2 Arabic numerals as needed, for a total of eight digits. 2.2 The first layer represents the major categories, starting from "1\, arranged in ascending order, and up to "9". 2.3 The second layer represents the minor categories, starting from "01\, arranged in ascending order, and up to "99". 2.4 The third layer represents the specific items, starting from "001\, arranged in ascending order, and up to "999". 2.5 The fourth level represents specific methods, starting from "01\, arranged in ascending order, up to "99". 2.6 Each level has appropriate blank codes to prepare for the need to add or adjust categories. 2.7 Code structure diagram, see Figure 1.
