1 Scope
Principles and requirements for setting up public information guidance systems Part 20: Urban areas

This part of GB/T15566 defines the composition of the public information guidance system in urban areas (hereinafter referred to as the urban guidance system), and stipulates the setting principles and requirements for the guidance elements in the urban guidance system. This part applies to the setting of public information guidance systems in urban areas such as urban exits, public transportation stations, blocks, public services and cultural and entertainment venues.

4.1 System composition
The urban guidance system is composed of interrelated sub-guidance systems and guidance elements. 4.2
2 Sub-guidance system
The sub-guidance systems of the urban guidance system include: City entrance and exit guidance system: providing information on civil airports, railway passenger stations, passenger terminals and long-distance passenger stations; Public transportation guidance system: providing information on urban rail transit stations, bus (or trolleybus) stations and public transportation hubs;

Public service facilities and cultural and entertainment guidance system: providing information on catering places, hotels, shopping places, medical places, sports places, tourist attractions, museums, libraries, exhibition halls, theaters and tourist information centers; A public facility guidance system: providing information on public toilets, motor vehicle parking lots and gas stations. 4.3 Guidance elements
Guidance elements of the urban guidance system include: location signs: signs composed of graphic signs and/or texts, indicating the location of service functions or public facilities; - Guidance signs: signs composed of graphic signs and/or texts and direction symbols, indicating the direction of travel to the expected destination; - Information index signs: signs that list the index of service functions or public facilities in a specific area or place, including floor information index signs, etc.;
- Plan diagram: a diagram showing the distribution information of service functions or public facilities in a specific area or place, including city maps, Traffic maps, tourist maps, panoramic maps and navigation maps, etc.: Block navigation maps: Simplified maps that provide the main natural geographical information, public facilities location distribution information and navigation information in the block, including pedestrian street block navigation maps, commercial street block navigation maps, cultural street block navigation maps, food street block navigation maps and other block navigation maps, etc.:
Portable printed materials: Navigation materials that are easy for users to carry and consult at any time, including portable city maps, traffic maps, tourist maps and travel guides, etc.
5 General principles and requirements
The planning and design of the urban navigation system shall comply with the provisions of GB/T38654. 5.2
The setting of the urban navigation system shall comply with the principles and requirements specified in GB/T15566.1. The design of the navigation elements in the urban navigation system shall comply with the requirements of GB/T20501 (all parts) 5.3
The public information graphic symbols involved in the urban navigation system shall comply with the provisions of GB/T10001 (all parts) 5.5 The sub-navigation systems in the urban navigation system shall be interconnected and coordinated to ensure the continuity of the navigation information. 5.6
The selection of guidance elements in the urban guidance system and their location and density should be determined based on the functional characteristics, distribution, architectural features, personnel flow direction and actual needs of urban roads, destinations and service facilities. 5.7 The characteristics of the guidance area, the purpose of guidance and the guidance needs should be fully considered, and the information in the urban guidance system should be classified according to the importance. Information with the same importance should be classified in the same level. 5.8 Various types of guidance systems should give priority to providing important information according to the information classification. It is advisable to focus on information that reflects the characteristics of the city or the region. For example, for cities with tourism as their feature, it is advisable to focus on tourism-related facilities such as tourist attractions, places of interest, museums and tourist information centers (see Figure A.1 in Appendix A). The principles and requirements for the setting of urban tourism guidance systems should comply with the provisions of GB/T31382.
5.9 When multiple guidance information is presented on the same carrier, different types of information should be divided into different areas by color or lines to distinguish them (see Figure A.1). It should also comply with the provisions of GB/T20501.6. 5.10 The urban guidance system should fully consider the needs of barrier-free guidance information, and the design and setting of barrier-free guidance elements should comply with the requirements of GB/T31015.
5.11 In areas open at night, if the illumination of the location where the guidance elements are set does not meet the requirements, built-in light source signs or external auxiliary light sources should be set to ensure that the guidance elements are clearly visible. 2

6 Setting requirements
Urban entrance and exit guidance system

6.1.1
The setting principles and requirements of the guidance system of civil airports and railway passenger stations shall comply with the provisions of GB/115566.2 and GB/T15566.3 respectively.
6.1.2 In the open space near the exit of the city population (civil airport, railway passenger station, passenger terminal, long-distance bus station), it is advisable to set up the city traffic map to provide the traffic information of the city. 6.1.3 Near the exit of the city population, it is advisable to set up the block guide map of the surrounding area of ??the city population. 6.1.4 At the personnel diversion point near the exit of the city population, the guide signs of public transportation hubs, urban rail transit stations, bus (including trolleybus) stations, taxi stations and motor vehicle parking lots should be set up. 6.1.5 At the public transportation hubs, urban rail transit stations, bus (including trolleybus) stations and motor vehicle parking lots near the city population, the guide signs of the city population should be set up. 6.2 Public Transportation Guidance System
6.2.1 The principles and requirements for the setting of the guidance system of urban rail transit stations and bus (including trolleybus) stations shall comply with the provisions of GB/T15566.4.
6.2.2Road traffic signs set up on roads for motor vehicles shall comply with the provisions of GB5768.26.2.3In the open areas of public transportation hubs, it is advisable to set up urban traffic maps to provide urban public transportation routes and transfer information. The size of the urban traffic map should be determined according to the setting space and personnel flow6.2.4Block guide maps should be set up in appropriate locations near public transportation hubs, urban rail transit stations, and bus (including trolleybus) stations. Block guide maps should provide information on surrounding civil airports, railway passenger stations, passenger terminals, long-distance bus stations, public transportation hubs, rail transit stations, bus (including trolleybus) stations, tourist attractions, museums, libraries, exhibition halls, theaters, major catering places, hotels, shopping places, medical places, sports venues, tourist information centers, public toilets and roads, and may provide information on motor vehicle parking lots, gas stations, etc.
6.3Block guide system
6.3.1The principles and requirements for setting up urban block guide systems shall comply with the provisions of GB/T15566.10. 6.3.2 Block guide maps should be set up for the main blocks and characteristic blocks in the city. 6.3.3 A plan view of the block should be set up at the nodes of the main roads in the block and at the entrance of the closed block. 6.3.4 Location signs should be set up for the following places in the block, and it is advisable to set up guide signs for the following places: civil airports, railway passenger stations, passenger terminals, long-distance bus stations, public transportation hubs, rail transit stations, bus (including trolleybus) stations, tourist attractions, museums, libraries, exhibition halls, theaters, well-known characteristic restaurants, hotels, shopping places, medical places, sports places, tourist information centers, etc.
6.3.5 Characteristic blocks should focus on guiding the main and characteristic functions in the block (such as characteristic restaurants, characteristic shopping, characteristic tourism, characteristic culture, etc.), and set up guide signs and location signs for these functions. SAG
6.3.6 When the functions in a characteristic block are relatively simple (such as a food street), guide signs should only be set up for characteristic functions, public transportation hubs, rail transit stations, bus (including trolleybus) stations, public toilets and parking lots. 6.3.7 In the block guide map of a characteristic block, the characteristic function information and other function information should be marked in different colors, and the characteristic function information should be highlighted. The example of setting up the block guide map of a characteristic block is shown in Figure A, 2. 3

6.4 Public service facilities and cultural and entertainment guidance system 6.4.1 Catering places
6.4.1.1 Well-known and characteristic catering places such as time-honored restaurants should be equipped with location signs, and guide signs should be set up around well-known and characteristic catering places such as time-honored restaurants.
6.4.1.2 The location information of the city's time-honored and other well-known and special catering places should be marked on the block guide map and plan diagram. 6.4.1.3 Near the exits of time-honored and other well-known and special catering places, it is advisable to set up guide signs such as nearby public transportation hubs, urban rail transit stations, and bus (including trolleybus) stations. 6.4.2 Hotels and restaurants
6.4.2.1 The principles and requirements for setting up the guide system of hotels and restaurants should comply with the provisions of GB/T15566.8. 6.4.2.2 At the front desk of star-rated hotels and restaurants, it is advisable to provide passengers with the city information, tourism resource information, local transportation information, and provide the city's tourism transportation map, scenic spot introduction and other relevant information. 6.4.2.3 At the exits of hotels and restaurants, it is advisable to set up guide signs such as nearby public transportation hubs, urban rail transit stations and bus (including trolleybus) stations.
6.4.3 Tourist attractions and cultural and entertainment venues
6.4.3.1 The principles and requirements for the setting of the guidance system of tourist attractions shall comply with the provisions of GB/T15566.9 and GB/T31384. 6.4.3.2 At the exits of tourist attractions and museums, libraries, exhibition halls, theaters, tourist information centers and other places, guidance signs such as nearby public transportation hubs, urban rail transit stations and bus (including trolleybus) stations shall be set up. 6.4.3.3 The tourist information center shall provide tourists with tourist information of the city, and may provide city introductions, tourist transportation maps, tourist guides, scenic area introductions, tourist maps and tourist information materials such as hotels and restaurants. 6.4.4 Shopping places
6.4.4.1 The principles and requirements for the setting of the guidance system of shopping places shall comply with the provisions of GB/T15566.5. 6.4.4.2 If large shopping malls, supermarkets and other shopping places have special product areas, guidance signs for the special product areas shall be set up in the shopping places, and location signs shall be set up at the entrances of the special product areas. 6.4.4.3 The location and information of the special product area should be highlighted on the floor plan or information index sign of shopping places with special product areas.
6.4.4.4 At the exit of shopping places, guide signs for nearby public transportation hubs, urban rail transit stations and bus (including trolleybus) stations, motor vehicle parking lots and nearby roads should be set up. 6.4.5 Medical places
6.4.5.1 The principles and requirements for setting up the guide system of medical places should comply with the provisions of GB/T15566.6. 6.4.5.2 At the exit of medical places, guide signs for nearby public transportation hubs, urban rail transit stations and bus (including trolleybus) stations should be set up.
6.4.6 Sports places
6.4.6.1 The principles and requirements for setting up the guide system of sports places should comply with the provisions of GB/T15566.7. 6.4.6.2 Near the exit of the sports venue, it is advisable to set up guide signs for nearby public transportation hubs, urban rail transit stations and bus (including trolleybus) stations.
