JB/T 7988.1-1999 This standard is a revision of JB/T 7988.1-95 (formerly GB 6406.3-86) "Method for Determination of Compressive Strength of Artificial Diamond or Cubic Boron Nitride". During the revision, the surface quality requirements of carbide indenters and gaskets were added, and editorial modifications were made according to relevant regulations. The main technical content has not changed. This standard specifies the instrument and method for determining the compressive strength of superhard abrasives. This standard is applicable to the determination of the compressive strength of artificial diamond and cubic boron nitride with a particle size of 16/20~100/120. This standard was first issued in May 1986. JB/T7988.1—1999 This standard is a revision of JB/T7988.1—95 (formerly GB6406.3—86) "Method for Determination of Compressive Strength of Artificial Diamond or Cubic Boron Nitride". This standard is basically consistent with the technical content of JB/T7988.1-95, only the surface quality requirements of carbide indenters and gaskets are added, and it is re-edited according to relevant regulations. This standard replaces JB/T7988.1-95 from the date of implementation. This standard is proposed and managed by the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Abrasives and Grinding Tools. The drafting unit of this standard: Zhengzhou Abrasives and Grinding Research Institute. The main drafter of this standard: Huang Xiangfen This standard was first issued in May 1986. 1 Scope Mechanical Industry Standard of the People's Republic of China Superhard abrasives Determination method of compressive strength This standard specifies the instrument and method for determining the compressive strength of superhard abrasives. JB/T 7988. 1--1999 Replaces JB/T7988.1-95 This standard is applicable to the determination of the compressive strength of artificial diamond and cubic boron nitride with a particle size of 16/20~100/120. 2 Cited standardswww.bzxz.net The provisions contained in the following standards constitute the provisions of this standard through reference in this standard. GB/T6406-1996 Superhard abrasives Diamond or cubic boron chloride particle size JB/T3914-1999 Superhard abrasive sampling method 3 Definitions This standard adopts the following definitions. 3.1 Compressive strength Compressive strength refers to the load value when a single artificial diamond or cubic nitride is crushed under static pressure. Expressed in Newton. Single particle compressive strength determination method 4.1 Equipment and tools 4.1.1 Single particle compressive strength tester The material of its carbide indenter and gasket is: YG6X, hardness not less than 91HRA, and its surface roughness: the test particle size 70/80 and its coarser is Ra not more than 0.80um; the test particle size 80/100 and its finer is Ra not more than 0.20um. 4.1.2 Glass slide, safety blade, tweezers, counter 4.2 Determination method 4.2.1 Sampling The material to be tested that meets GB/T6406 shall be reduced to about 1 according to the method specified in JB/T3914. Then take an appropriate amount and place it on the glass slide, scrape it straight with a safety blade, and wait for inspection. 4.2.2 Determination Take one grain from one end of the material to be tested on the glass slide and place it on the workbench in sequence. First measure the particle size, then gradually add load until it breaks, record the load value, and count. If the size suddenly changes during the loading process, if the size decreases by no more than 1/3 of the original value, this grain will not be counted, and re-measure one grain, and measure 40 grains until it reaches 40 grains. 4.2.3 Calculation First calculate the arithmetic mean of the load of 40 grains, check the load value of each grain, and discard those that exceed the average value - times. The remainder is averaged to obtain the compressive strength value of the sample.
