Light Industry Standard of the People's Republic of China Test Method for Water Permeability of Leather 1 Subject Content and Scope of Application QB/T 1811-1993 This standard specifies the test principle, test instrument, sample preparation, test steps, calculation and test report for water permeability of leather under standard push state. This standard applies to all leathers. 2 Reference Standards GB/T4689.1 Sample Location and Marking of Leather Laboratory GB/T4689.2 Air Conditioning of Test Pieces for Leather Physical Properties Test 3 Test Principle Under certain temperature and humidity conditions, the leather test piece is fixed at the mouth of a moving test bottle, and the test bottle is filled with a solid desiccant. When the test bottle moves, water vapor passes through the leather test piece and is absorbed by the solid desiccant. The test bottle is weighed within a specified time, and the weight of water vapor passing through the leather and absorbed by the desiccant during this period can be determined. 4 Instruments and Materials 4.1 The components of the leather water permeability tester shall comply with the following provisions: Test bottle: as shown in Figure 1, equipped with a threaded cover, with a circular hole of 30 mm in diameter, the circular hole is equal to the inner diameter of the bottleneck. The plane of the bottle mouth is perpendicular to the inner wall of the bottleneck. Figure 1 Test bottle support: driven by an electric motor, with a speed of (75 ± 5) r/min. Silica gel drying conditions: in an oven at (125±5)℃, the air should circulate, the drying time should be at least 16h, and then cooled in a closed container for at least 6h. The diameter of the silica gel particles should be greater than 2mm. 4.3 Precision balance: accurate to 0.001g. 4.4 Timer. 4.5 Vernier caliper: accurate to 0.1mm. 4.6 Knife die: circular diameter is 34mm. 5 Test specimen 5.1 According to the No. 10 test specimen position specified in GB/T4689.1, remove the test specimen with a knife die. 5.2 Air condition the test specimen according to the provisions of GB/T4689.2. 6 Test steps 6.1 Put half of the freshly dried silica gel (59.0±0.5)g into the test bottle, fix the test specimen on the bottle mouth with the use surface facing inward, then fix the test bottle on the test bottle holder and start the instrument. 6.2 Use a vernier caliper to measure the inner diameter of the second test bottle mouth in two mutually perpendicular directions, and mark the average diameter d. Accurate to 0.1 mm. 6.3 If necessary, add a gasket or apply a layer of beeswax between the bottle mouth and the test piece, or take other measures to prevent air leakage. 6.4 After the instrument has rotated for 16 hours, stop the machine and remove the first test bottle. Put the other half of the freshly dried silica gel (59.0±0.5)g into the second test bottle, remove the sample from the first test bottle as soon as possible and fix it to the second test bottle, with the use side facing inward. 6.5 Weigh the second test bottle, record the weighing time, and then fix the second test bottle on the instrument. 6.6 When the instrument After running for 7h, stop the machine, remove the test bottle, weigh it, and record the weighing time. 7 Test results Where: P.----Water permeability, mg/(cm2·h);--The increased mass of the bottle after two weighings, mg, m dThe diameter of the bottle mouth, cm, {---…The time interval between two weighings, h. 117 Test report The test report includes the following contents: Name and source of the sample to be tested; QB/T 18111993 Each measurement result, the arithmetic mean of multiple results; preservation of samples and test conditions; Temporary factors that may affect the test results.
