Introduction to standards:

This standard specifies the relationship between the frequency and sound pressure level of continuous pure tones perceived by listeners as equal loudness. The data are given in the form of a graph in Appendix A and a table in Appendix B. This standard specifies the relationship between the frequency and sound pressure level of continuous pure tones perceived by listeners as equal loudness. The data are given in the form of a graph in Appendix A and a table in Appendix B.
This standard is equivalent to ISO226:2003 "Acoustic Standard Equal Loudness Level Curve" (English version).
This standard replaces GB/T4963-1985.
The differences between this standard and GB/T4963-1985 are as follows:
---GB/T4963-2007 is equivalent to ISO226:2003, which has 4 chapters and 3 appendices; GB/T4963-1985 refers to ISO/R226:1961, which has only 3 chapters and 1 appendix. The version referenced by GB/T4963-2007 is much larger in size, and the added content is substantial.
---As for the core content, GB/T4963-2007 has a formula for deriving sound pressure level from loudness level.
---The different formulas reflect that the equal loudness level curve of GB/T4963-2007 has been significantly modified between the frequencies of 1000Hz and 2000Hz compared with the equal loudness level curve of GB/T4963-1985, which is based on the latest research results in the past 20 to 30 years.
---Appendix C of GB/T4963-2007 gives the origin of the standard equal loudness level curve, and lists information on dozens of studies in more than a dozen countries together with references, which can help standard users understand the relevant research methods.
This standard is equivalent to the translation of ISO226:2003, and editorial modifications have been made.
Appendix A and Appendix B of this standard are normative appendices, and Appendix C is an informative appendix.
This standard was proposed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
This standard is under the jurisdiction of the National Technical Committee for Acoustics Standardization (SAC/TC17). The
drafting units of this standard are: Institute of Acoustics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tongji University, Institute of Psychology, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The main drafters of this standard are: Dai Genhua, Fang Zhi, Mao Dongxing, Li Xiaodong.
The previous versions of the standards replaced by this standard are:
---GB/T4963-1985.
The clauses in the following documents become the clauses of this standard through reference in this standard. For any dated referenced document, all subsequent amendments (excluding errata) or revisions are not applicable to this standard. However, the parties to the agreement based on this standard are encouraged to study whether the latest versions of these documents can be used. For any undated referenced document, the latest version shall apply to this standard.
