Identification code for ships engaged in international voyage
1 Subject matter and scope of application
1.1 This standard specifies the principles for the compilation of the identification code for ships engaged in international voyage. 1.2 This standard applies to ships engaged in international voyage. GB12410.-.90
1.3 The identification code for ships engaged in international voyage specified in this standard applies to the exchange of information, trade documents and information transmission between parties to international trade; it is also used in all occasions where national shipping departments use ship names to identify them in transport management, planning, statistics, ship inspection, insurance and information exchange.
1.4 This standard also applies to other ships registered and inspected by the Ship Inspection Bureau of the People's Republic of China or China Classification Society, including coastal or inland river ships.
2 Terminology
2.1 International voyage means a voyage from a ship of a country to which the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea applies to a port outside that country or vice versa. 2.2 Ships engaged in international voyage refers to ships holding international voyage certificates issued by the competent authorities of the Chinese government. 2.3 Identification code for ships engaged in international voyage is a permanent code used to identify ships flying the flag of the People's Republic of China that can engage in international voyage. 3 Classification principle
The ship identification code adopts the face classification principle, which consists of the first pinyin letter B of the word "standard" plus the ZC registration number of the ship granted by the Ship Inspection Bureau of the People's Republic of China or China Classification Society. 4 Coding method
4.1 This standard adopts a characteristic combination code. It consists of an eight-digit mixed code. The first digit is B; the second to eighth digits are the ship's 7C registration number, of which the second and third digits indicate the year of completion of the ship's construction; the fourth digit is the check code (see 4.2), and the last four digits are the ship's ZC registration number of that year. The code structure is:
Approved by the State Bureau of Technical Supervision on July 5, 1990616
Implementation on March 1, 1991

4.2 The check code is given by dividing the six-digit number consisting of the year and the sequence number by 23, and the Latin letter corresponding to the remainder (except 1, 0, and Z) is the check code.
See the following table for details:
E— 4
G——6
P—13
Q—14
R— 15
S-—16
V—--19
W-----20
X—- 21
Y—22
Example: For a ship with the serial number 4006 built, completed, registered and inspected in 1987, its check code is the letter G corresponding to the remainder 6 of 874006-23, then the ship identification code is: B87G4006. 5 Others
5.1 This standard is used as the permanent identification number for international ships. For any ship with this code, its ship identification code will remain unchanged regardless of any changes in the ship's status in the future, such as changes in personnel status, changes in ship name, shipowner, transfer of port of registry, etc. After a ship is scrapped or lost, the ZC registration number will no longer be used for other ships.
5.2 Any shipowner who uses this identification code must register and inspect it with the Ship Inspection Bureau of the People's Republic of China or China Classification Society. The user can find the ship's ZC registration number in the "Ship List" published by them. 5.3 When there is doubt about the authenticity of the ship's identification code, you can ask the Ship Inspection Bureau of the People's Republic of China or China Classification Society for clarification.
This code can be used in combination with the ship's department, ship type and other codes. 5.4
