Introduction to standards:

This standard is a guideline for use that equipment designers and variable capacitor maintenance and use personnel should follow. It is hoped that the precautions proposed in this standard can attract the attention of variable capacitor users, so that they can use and maintain the capacitors correctly during the equipment production process and during the subsequent capacitor use period, thereby extending their service life and accuracy. Some standard content:

National Standard of the People's Republic of China
Guide to the use of yariable capacitors in electronic equipment
This standard is equivalent to IEC Standard 612 "Guide to the use of variable capacitors in electronic equipment". UDC 621.319.43.004
.14 (083.85)
GB 4165-84
IEC 612-1978
This standard is a guide to the use of variable capacitors that should be followed by equipment designers and maintenance and users of variable capacitors. It is hoped that the precautions proposed in this standard will attract the attention of variable capacitor users, so that they can ensure the proper use and maintenance of capacitors during the equipment production process and during the subsequent use of capacitors, thereby extending their service life and accuracy. Since variable capacitors are a rugged electronic component, they are more likely to be abused and mishandled than any other electronic component. It is hoped that the points specified below will help to adopt certain measures to maintain the performance of variable capacitors by highlighting several phenomena that may occur during the use of this component. 1 Packaging and storage
The following points should be noted in each stage of packaging, disassembly, storage, transportation and assembly:
b. For air dielectric variable capacitors, if there is a risk of fingers or other external objects contacting and damaging the electrodes, the moving plates should be placed close to the maximum capacitance position.
c. Containers containing capacitors should not be stacked on top of each other in such a way that their weight presses on the capacitors.
d. When capacitors are stored, they should not be damaged by each other and should be protected from dust and dirt.
e. In the event that the container is to be returned to the supplier, it should still be well packaged to prevent damage. 2 Installation and assembly
Care should be taken not to install the capacitor on an uneven surface, as this will cause deformation of the frame assembly, resulting in changes in the air gap between the moving plate and the fixed plate, which in turn causes changes in the capacitance. It is well known that, for example, sometimes a connecting wire or gasket is embedded under one of the mounting feet of the capacitor, which will make the mounting surface uneven. This practice should be avoided. If there is any doubt about the installation, the maximum capacitance of the capacitor before and after it is installed in the equipment or measuring fixture should be measured (that is, the maximum capacitance defined in GB4166-84** "Test Method for Variable Capacitors for Electrical Equipment"). If there is any change in the capacitance value measured after installation, it means that there is a problem with the fixing method and it may need to be modified. However, according to the agreement between the user and the supplier. If both parties use the same test method, the measured capacitance can be allowed to have a small change. When installing accessories such as control knobs on the capacitor shaft, the force applied should not exceed the force applied when the component is tested for approval.
When using an electric ten-piece to assemble capacitors to a rack or printed circuit board, never use the capacitor as a support point during the assembly process.
*The original IEC standard is "According to the standard atmosphere conditions specified in IEC Standard No. 68 "Basic Environmental Test Procedures". *"GB 4166.-84" replaced "[IEC Standard 4181]. National Bureau of Standards 1984-02-27 Issued

GB 4165-84
When wiring variable capacitors, it is important not to overheat the capacitor's soldering lugs or other parts, and to minimize the stress on the capacitor due to improper wiring or pliers. In any case, the stress applied to the capacitor should not exceed GB 4166-84. 84 The force specified in the relevant test. Adjustment
The contact point of the movable plate group has been adjusted to the appropriate pressure by the manufacturer, so no further adjustment is allowed in the future, otherwise it may cause other disadvantages, such as: hatching sound, popping sound, etc. When the capacitor is installed in the equipment, it should be prohibited to use the method of bending the adjustment plate of the variable capacitor to change the capacitance. Lubrication
Unless otherwise specified, no lubricant should be added to the movable plate bearing or other moving parts. Because the capacitor is provided with lubricant during manufacturing, and the lubricant used is carefully selected to meet certain humidity, temperature and conductivity conditions throughout the life of the capacitor. Solvents must not be used for cleaning. 6 Various causes of damage
Equipment designers are often accustomed to using variable capacitors as support points for other components in the equipment. The usual practice is to drill holes and tap threads on the capacitor frame. Because drilling and tapping will inevitably generate stress, This may weaken the strength of the frame and cause mechanical instability, so this practice must be strictly prohibited. When the spare holes in the capacitor frame are used to fix other components such as brackets, it is important that the brackets or other components should be made of thin materials that will not deform the capacitor frame. Metal stamps should not be used to print marking symbols on the metal parts of the capacitor, which will cause permanent deformation of the capacitor frame and render the capacitor ineffective.
It is not advisable to use any part of the movable plate or fixed plate system as an end stop. If necessary, the equipment designer should install a properly designed end stop in the transmission mechanism.
Machining on the movable plate shaft by the user, such as drilling, reshaping, sawing, etc., will inevitably damage the movable plate bearing, which is not allowed.
The sub-mounting screws extend too long into the capacitor, often causing damage to the movable and fixed plates. Therefore, care must be taken when specifying the length of the capacitor mounting screws.
7 Measurement
When measuring the capacitance of variable capacitors, it is important that the dividing head used to determine the rotation angle should not lose its accuracy due to the influence of the vibration of mechanical couplings, fixing screws, etc. The determination of whether the capacitor is within the specified capacitance limit range should be determined according to the capacitance measurement accuracy specified in Chapter 4 of GB4166-84*. *"GB 416-" replaced "EC Standard 418-1\.
