4 Method for measuring oil consumption
4.1 Weight method
4.1.1 Oil drain weighing method
This method can be used for small and medium-power diesel engines with wet oil sump structure. 4.1.1.1 Method summary
Measure the worst oil weight before and after the diesel engine test, and then calculate the oil consumption of the diesel engine based on the engine running time and power. 4.1. 1.2 Determination Procedure
Add oil to the diesel engine oil pan to the upper limit of the oil dipstick, start the diesel engine and warm up the engine according to the diesel engine manual until a.
After the diesel engine oil-water temperature reaches the warm-up parameters specified in the instruction manual (according to the requirements of Article 3.4), adjust the diesel engine operating conditions to reach the rated speed and specified power and the Kaishan temperature reaches the value required in the instruction manual, and run stably for 10 min. Stop the engine after 1. Then crank the engine so that the piston of the first cylinder is at the top dead center. Turn the crankshaft three more times, and then start to add oil, dripping oil directly and regularly (about 30 drops/min). Note the actual number of oil drops per minute. c. Use a waterproof desktop electronic scale to weigh the total weight of the modified engine oil container (ml). d. Pour the weighed oil back into the diesel engine oil pan, and then weigh the weight of the oil container (m2). The difference between the two weights (m2 - m2) is the amount of oil added (mr
). Start the diesel engine again, and operate it under the same operating conditions as a. The diesel engine test operation reaches the measurement interval e
of 3.5 requirements and then stop the engine.
f. According to the above method, operate in the same order, crank, rotate the crankshaft, and drain the oil until regular oil dripping (30 Oil drops/min), consider that the number of oil drops per minute is equal to the number of oil drops actually measured in 4.1.12b, and weigh. Measure the weight of the oil released after the test together with the container (the original volume of the above-mentioned oil filling and pouring) m3m; the difference between m and m is the weight of the oil released after the test mr: 4.1.1.3 Calculation of measurement results

}. The diesel engine oil sump is a dry structure; it has its own oil pressure pump and oil pump. For a wet oil sump diesel engine, an external oil return pump should be installed, and the flow rate of the oil return pump should be greater than the oil pressure flow rate.
h. In the oil circulation system of the test bench, an external measuring circulation oil tank is connected. The measuring delay oil tank is located on a waterproof printing electronic platform scale. When weighing is completed, the oil tank and the electronic scale should be disconnected. c. The liquid level of the external measuring circulation oil tank is required to be lower than the oil level of the oil pan when the diesel engine is working. d. The inlet and outlet pipes of the external measuring circulation oil tank are required not to touch the oil tank during installation to prevent interference with the electronic scale. 4.1.2.2 Method Summary
Measure the weight difference of the oil in the external measuring circulation oil tank before and after the diesel engine test, and then calculate the diesel engine oil consumption based on the diesel engine running time and power.
4.1.2.3 Measurement Procedure
a When the oil engine runs to the specified power and rated speed according to the working conditions required in Article 3.4 and the oil temperature reaches the requirements of the manual, the measurement and weighing can be started after stable operation for 10 minutes. Start measuring, record the diesel engine power, speed, start measuring time, and start measuring the weight of the oil in the oil tank. c: The diesel engine is operated according to the working conditions required in 3.4. When the specified measuring interval is reached.Record the end time of the measurement, diesel engine speed, speed and the weight of oil in the oil tank at the end of the measurement. 4.1.2.4 Measurement result calculation

4. 1.3. 1 Manual oil level dynamic balance weight method This method is suitable for diesel auxiliary engines with wet oil sump structure, especially small diesel engines. As shown in Figure 2. Tianbao machine
Figure 2 Schematic diagram of manual oil level dynamic balance weight method 1 Lubrication port; 2 Shutoff valve 3- Flow pipe: 4 Diesel oil dripping from the sump during operation 5- Oil recovery container end
4.1.3.1.1 Requirements for measurement device
Use the oil hole of the oil sump or the crankcase surface to drill at the oil level line. Install a flow meter with a shutoff valve 2 3. Note that the height of the oil spill should be equal to the height of the oil level when the engine is working, and the shorter the pipe, the better. b Use the crankcase check hole or suction port to fill the oil funnel. Prepare the engine leakage recovery container, electric heater and electronic platform scale. 4.1.3.1.2 Summary of test method
Diesel engine is tested according to the required parameters by dripping oil method. The height of the oil level in the oil pan is controlled by the oil dripping method. After a period of running test, the oil level drops due to the consumption of engine oil. The oil level corresponding to the oil temperature of the oil pan and weighed is added to the oil pan until it reaches the original oil level when the oil drips. The oil weight is the consumption during the test period. 4.1.3.1.3 Determination procedure
Add oil to the oil pan of the diesel engine until the upper limit of the oil dipstick is reached, start the diesel engine and warm it up. After the diesel engine is running properly, adjust the diesel engine to the working conditions specified in Article 3.4, and wait until the oil temperature reaches the requirements of the manual (the temperature tolerance is not more than 2); after stable operation for 10 minutes, start the measurement. During the measurement, open valve 2 and inject engine oil from the refueling port 1 until 30-35 full/min of oil drops from the outlet of the clearing pipe, then close valve 2, and then record the time when the first oil drop at 30-35 drops/min ends, the diesel engine power P, and the speed n. The diesel engine is operated according to the working conditions specified in Article 3.4. When the measurement time specified in Article 3.5 is reached, open valve 2 and inject engine oil with the same temperature and flow rate as the oil pan from the refueling port 1 until 30-35 full/min of oil drops again (in operation, even if the refueling is excessive, causing the excess oil to overflow into the oil container, it will not affect the measurement result). d. Record the end time of oil dripping at 90-35 drops/min, close valve 2, 4. 1. 3. 1. 4 Calculation of measurement results

The record table of diesel engine oil consumption measured by manual refueling liquid level dynamic balance weight method is shown in Appendix A (reference). 4.1.3.2 Dynamic balancing weighing method for oil filling level This method (as shown in Figure 3) is suitable for large, medium and small oil engines with oil pan structure, especially for diesel engines. Figure 3 Schematic diagram of dynamic balancing weighing method for oil filling level 1-Oil pipe; 2-Oil pump 13-Stop-flow pipe 14-Check valve or adjustment valve; 5-Oil level when the engine is working; 6-Oil tank; 7-Electric heater; 8-Electronic scale 4.1.3.2.1 Determination and installation requirements
Use the oil drain hole of the shaft bottom shell (or make a hole on the side of the crankcase at the oil level line) to install an overflow pipe with a stopper. Note that the brightness of the oil dripping at the overflow pipe mouth a.
should be equal to the height of the oil level of the oil pan when the diesel engine is working, and the overflow pipe should be as short as possible. b. Use the crankcase inspection hole or breathing port to insert the oil pipe 1 with oil system 2 and stop valve 4. Note that the pipe should be as short as possible so as not to affect the electronic scale.
Weigh the oil pan with a digital waterproof desktop electronic scale and disconnect it immediately after weighing. 4.1.3.2.2 Summary of the determination method
Use a pump to add oil to the oil overflow port and then stop the pump to clear the oil. When the engine is running according to the required parameters, the height of the oil level in the oil pan is measured. After a period of operation test, the oil level drops due to oil consumption. Pump the oil again to the original oil level when the oil is dripping. Weigh the weight difference between the test tank (including the engine) and the front lip. The weight of the oil added is equal to the consumption during the test period. 4.1.3.2.3 Determination procedure
a: Use an electric heater to keep the oil temperature in the test filter box equal to the oil temperature in the oil pan when the diesel engine is under test. h. The diesel engine is running according to the upper filter specified in 3.1 (the speed tolerance is not more than 1%) and the oil temperature reaches the requirements of the manual (the oil temperature difference is not more than ±2). After stable operation for 10 minutes, the measurement delay is started. 5
W.GE/T 14363—93
During the measurement, open valve 3 and valve 4, start pump 2, stop the pump when oil overflows from the oil overflow port, close valve 3 when oil drips at 30~35 drops/min, record the first time t when oil drips at 39~35 drops/min, add the oil loading machine operating power P, turn on n, add enough oil to the measuring box and weigh it at the same time (including the engine oil tank)
d. The oil loading machine operates according to the conditions specified in 3.4, and when the measurement time specified in 8.5 is reached, open valve 3 and start recording 2. Continue until oil drips at 30~35 drops/min again. (During the operation, even if excessive dripping is added and overflows into the recovery oil container, this does not affect the measurement result). Record the time t2 when oil drips at 30~35 drops/min again, and measure the weight m of the oil tank (including the engine oil tank), and close valve e.

4.2 Volumetric method
The volumetric method is used when the weight method cannot be used. The volumetric method is used to measure the difference between the oil volume before and after the diesel engine has been tested for a period of time (the volume of the oil in the external oil tank or oil pan), and then the diesel engine fuel consumption can be calculated based on the oil density, diesel engine running time and power. The volumetric method is divided into two types: the external measurement circulating oil tank volumetric method and the wet oil pan diesel engine external glass wave meter volumetric method. W.4.2.1 Externally connected circulating tank volume measurement method
GB/T 1436393
This method (as shown in Figure 5) is applicable to large and medium-sized diesel engines with dry oil sump structure or modified oil sump structure with external full pump.
Diesel engine
Figure 5 Schematic diagram of externally connected circulating tank volume measurement method 1 Liquid level meter; 3-flow meter; 3-independent nozzle; 4-electric heater of circulating tank:6—Oil drain valve; 7—Pressure pump; 8—Oil return pump Requirements for measuring devices
a. Connect an external circulating oil tank to the oil circulation system of the diesel pile test bench. If it is a screw-type oil sump structure, the diesel drain should be connected to an external backwash pump, and its flow rate should be greater than that of the pressure pump. b. To improve the measurement accuracy, the upper part of the oil tank can be slightly opened. c. Make various buffer devices, such as flow covers and guide plates, at the place where the engine oil tank enters the engine oil tank. d. Determination of the calibration of circulating oil volume
Fill the oil tank with enough oil. When the oil level in the oil tank is still at the upper limit after the diesel engine is balanced, turn on the electric heater, start the circulating oil pump, circulate the oil in the oil tank until the engine temperature reaches the specified power, turn off the electric heater and oil pump, control the oil drain, measure the drained volume while draining the oil, and record the corresponding volume change of the oil tank at the same time, and mark the volume value on the scale of the glass level gauge. 4.2.2 External glass wall drop level meter volume method
For overflow type single-shell structure diesel filter, use the oil drain hole of the oil pan, connect the bypass with a sump valve and a drum level gauge. Calibrate the volume of the oil pan. For diesel engines that have been shut down for more than two days, add preheated (oil temperature and oil overflow at constant power) oil to the oil pan to the upper limit of the oil dipstick, and calibrate according to the oil tank calibration method of 4.2.1d. (as shown in Figure 6). W.4.2.3 Determination procedure
