1.0.1 In order to facilitate the unified management of lakes across the country, make lake management standardized and scientific, and meet the needs of high-tech information development, this code is formulated based on the types and distribution characteristics of lakes across the country. 1.0.2 This code stipulates the code for the names of lakes with an area of more than 1km2 across the country. 1.0.3 This code is applicable to the collection, storage, retrieval, analysis and exchange in various resource and environmental information systems. 2 Terminology
2.0.1 Lake. The lake basin and the water body it contains (including intercrystalline brine) are called lakes. The lake basin is a relatively closed natural depression on the surface that can store water. Lakes are also called tides, ponds, ze, dian, chen, ponds, dang, yang, tan, pao, hai (zi), nuoer, kul, kule, chaka, zhang, cuo, etc. in various places. 2.0.2 Basin. The watershed or catchment area surrounded by the watershed of surface water and groundwater. Because the groundwater watershed is difficult to determine, it is customary to refer to the catchment basin surrounded by the surface runoff watershed. 2.0.3 Mineralization. The mineralization of natural water is usually expressed as the sum of the main ions dissolved in the water, in mg/L or g/L.
2.0.4 Information coding. Information coding is to give things or concepts (coding objects) symbols with certain regularity, which are easy for computers and people to recognize and process.
2.0.5 Code. A code is one or a group of regular symbols that are easy for computers and people to recognize and process. The identification function is the basic feature of the code.
3 Code compilation and explanation
3.1 Compilation principles
3.1.1 Scientificity. Based on the current national standards and industry standards, combined with the characteristics and features of water conservancy science and geographical science, with the goal of adapting to information processing, the lakes over 1km2 in the country are scientifically coded according to the basin, geographical location, water chemical properties, and area size to form a systematic coding system. 3.1.2 Uniqueness and practicality. Each coding object has only one code, and one code uniquely identifies only one coding object. The code should be as short and easy to remember as possible. 3.1.3 Integrity and scalability. The code reflects both the attributes of each element and the relationship between elements, and has integrity. The coding structure leaves appropriate room for expansion and is easy to extend. SL26198
3.2 Coding objects, methods and approaches
3.2.1 Coding objects. All lakes with an area of more than 1km2 in the country. 3.2.2 Coding methods. Combination code.
3.2.3 Coding methods. A combination code of 7 letters and numbers is used to represent the lake's basin (or inland area), geographical location (province, autonomous region, municipality directly under the central government), water chemical properties and area size range. The letters "I" and "O" are omitted. 3.2.4 Code format. BSSCNNN.

3.3.4 Unnamed lakes are numbered in descending order according to the area, with the provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities) within the basin (or internal drainage area) as units.
3.3.5 Boundary lakes Except for the western tidal zone of Pangong Lake on the border with Kashmir, which is brackish, the rest (Changbai Mountain Tianchi, Xingkai Tide, and Beier Lake) are all freshwater lakes. 3.3.6 Provincial boundary lakes are coded according to the province where the main part of the lake is located. For example, Huanggai Lake is Hunan Province (43), Mitijiang Zhanmu Co is Qinghai Province (63), and Hongjianzhang is Shaanxi Province (61). 3.3.7 Outflow lakes are coded as freshwater lakes unless they are marked with water chemical analysis data. For example, Mazhang Coqin at the source of the Yangtze River is a brackish lake with the fourth digit code "B"; lakes in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River are coded as "A" even though many small lakes do not have water chemical analysis data.
3.3.8 A large number of inland lakes in Qinghai, Tibet, Mongolia, Xinjiang and other regions that do not have water chemical analysis data are coded as "F". 3.3.9 Some dried lakes in the western region (such as Lop Nur and Manas Lake) are now dry salt lakes, and the fourth digit code is "E".
3.3.10 Closed lakes in other regions (Z) refer to closed flow lakes in the outflow area. Such as Chenghai in Yunnan Province, Jiechi in Shanxi Province, and Nianjicuo in Qinghai Province.
3.3.11 The center of the area where the lake is located is marked with longitude and latitude. If there is no longitude and latitude available, indicate the city or county to which it belongs. 3.3.12 This code is mainly based on the work data of the Nanjing Institute of Geography and Lake Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and is compiled with reference to the data collected from the relevant units of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, universities and water administration departments of provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the central government). 4 Lake name code
