This standard is a revision of GB/T8117-87 Light Signalling Standard. CIE Foreword
The standards developed by CIE include brief documents of relevant data on lamp specifications and signal specifications. Considering the need to achieve international and domestic consensus, it is necessary to make such provisions. CIE standards provide internationally agreed data that can be applied to the worldwide standard system without major changes.
CIE summarized the recommended standards for light signals published between 1987 and 1993, and on this basis, this standard was completed.
CIE has approved this standard to replace the recommended standard for light signal colors published by CIE in 1975. Introduction

National and international standards for visual signal systems usually specify the requirements for light signal colors to ensure that people can correctly identify these colors. The recommended standards previously published by CIE provide effective guidance on how to choose these colors and are used in many different standards.
CIE was first adopted in 1959 The standard was based on experiments conducted in the 1930s and 1940s and the technical experience of the experts in the IF committee responsible for developing this standard. It also took into account the actual conditions and relevant standards of the time, as well as the practical limitations of colored signal equipment and the need to produce sufficiently strong signals. After that, new experiments and the actual application of the standard in 1959 led to the publication of its revised version in 1975.
