Some standard content:
GB/T2659-2000 This standard adopts ISO3166-1:1997 (E/F) "Codes for Names of Countries and Subordinate Areas - Part 1: Country Codes", and revise GB/T2659-1994 with reference to the announcements issued by the ISO3166 Maintenance Agency (ISO3166/MA) and the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD) as of September 30, 1999. The names and codes of countries and regions listed in this standard do not represent my country's attitude towards their sovereignty, political status and border demarcation. The English abbreviations and full names of countries and regions listed in this standard are basically consistent with ISO3166-1:1997 (E/F), and the Chinese abbreviations and full names are basically consistent with GB/T2659-1994. The main differences and similarities between this standard and ISO3166-1:1997 (E/F) and (GB/T2659-1994): 1. This standard is equivalent to Chapters 3, 5, 6, 8 and 9 of ISO3166-1:1997 (E/F); 2. This standard does not adopt IS0 3. Table 1 of this standard adopts the column setting format of GB/T2659-1994. For ease of use, a column for serial number is added. The serial number is maintained by the National Technical Committee for Information and Documentation Standardization; 4. This standard, like GB/T2659-1994 and ISO3166-1:1997 (E/F), lists the two-character Latin alphabet code index of country and region names, the three-character Latin alphabet code index of country and region names, and the Arabic numeral code index of country and region names, and adds the Chinese phonetic index of country and region names. The four indexes are all appendices to this standard. The standard was first issued in 1981, revised for the first time in 1986, revised for the second time in 1994, and this is the third revision. This standard replaces GB/T2659--1994 from the date of implementation. This standard is proposed by the State Post Bureau. This standard is under the jurisdiction of the National Information and Documentation Standardization Technical Committee. The drafting units of this standard are: the State Post Bureau Scientific Research and Planning Institute, the Chinese Institute of Scientific and Technical Information, and the Beijing Documentation Service Office. The main drafters of this standard are: Zhang Zhiyun, Yu Tong, Li Xiujin, Zhen, Shen Yulan, and Zhao Xiaochen. 122 National Standard of the People's Republic of China Name Codes of Countries and Regions in the World Codes for the representation of names of countries and regions 1 Scope This standard specifies the codes for the names of countries and regions in the world. This standard is applicable to information processing and exchange at home and abroad. 2 Definitions This standard adopts the following definitions. 2.1 Code code The symbolic representation obtained by converting data according to predetermined rules. 2.2 Code element code element The result of assigning a code to an element in a set of elements to be coded. Note: In this standard, a code element represents the name of a country or region. 2.3 Country and region name countryand region name rame country or other region with special geopolitical significance. 2.4 Country and region code country and region code contains a list of country and region names and corresponding code elements. 3 Code structure GB/T 2659--2000 egy IS0 31661: 1997 Replaces GB/T2659—1994 Country and region names are represented by three code methods: two-character Latin alphabet code, three-character Latin alphabet code and Arabic numeral code. Among them, the Latin alphabet code is encoded based on the abbreviation of the country and region. 3.1 Two-character Latin alphabet code structure is composed of two uppercase Latin letters (without pronunciation symbols), from AA to ZZ. 3.2 Three-character Latin alphabet code structure is composed of three uppercase Latin letters (without pronunciation symbols), from AAA to Z2Z. 3.3 Arabic numeral code structure is composed of three Arabic numerals, from 000 to 999. 3.4 Instructions for use When applying this standard, it should be clearly stated which of the three codes is used. If the code elements in this standard need to be used in combination with other characters for special purposes, the selection method and function of these characters should be clearly stated. 4 Country and region name codes and indexes! 4.1 See Table 1 for country and region name codes; 4.2 See Appendix A (suggestive appendix) for Chinese phonetic index of country and region names: Index of two-character Latin alphabet code of country and region names Approved by the State Administration of Quality and Technical Supervision on July 31, 2000 and implemented on March 1, 2001 GB/T 2659—2000 See Appendix B (suggestive appendix); Index of character Latin alphabet code of country and region names See Appendix C (suggestive appendix); Index of Arabic numeral code of country and region names See Appendix D (suggestive appendix). 5 User Guide When it is necessary to expand or change the elements of country and region name codes for special purposes, the provisions of 5.1 to 5.4 shall be followed and the National Technical Committee for Information and Document Standardization shall be notified. 5.1 Subset If the user does not use all the country and region name codes in Table 1, he/she may create a subset as needed, and indicate the version used and the purpose of creating the subset. 5.2 Reorganization If the user groups some country and region names in Table 1 and needs to use a code element to represent each group, the provisions of 5.3 should be followed. 5.3 User-assigned code elements For code elements not included in Table 1, the available two-character Latin alphabet code range is: AA, QM~QZ, XA~XZ, ZZ, the three-character Latin alphabet code range is: AAA~AAZ, QMA~QZZ, XAA~XZZ, ZZA~ZZZ, and the Arabic numeral code range is: 900~999. 5.4 Extension method of user-assigned code elements If the user-assigned code elements in 5.3 cannot meet the needs, in addition to the codes defined in Table 1, letter code elements 00,000 or numeric code elements 000 can also be used. 5.5 Redefinition If the user finds that a code element in Table 1 needs to be redefined, the National Information and Documentation Standardization Technical Committee should be consulted.
