GB/T20543.2—201171S013616-2:20070.1Overview
The use of electronic communication media for cross-border information transmission, fund payment and payment-related transactions between financial institutions and between financial institutions and their customers continues to show a significant growth trend. In this environment, GB/T20543 standard was developed to facilitate automatic processing to support straight-through processing (STP). Through this standard and the industry's electronic data interchange (EDD) technology, financial institutions and customers can exchange account identity information in a machine-readable format. The standard also specifies provisions for verifying the validity of the information provided.
It is unrealistic to adopt a single, universal method to identify the relationship between the accounts of financial institutions' customers and banks in the standardization process, and financial institutions all want to retain the existing identification methods in their own countries. In view of this, the standard proposes an identification method and a way of organizing information that requires minimal changes to the existing system to facilitate the automated processing of information. In terms of electronic data exchange, the application of this standard will bring: a) reduced human intervention in processing data exchange within and between industries, b) improved the accuracy of the information provided; c) ensure that the information provided can reflect the national information of the account owner. This part describes:
Registration agency responsible for the registration of IBAN formats: procedures for registering IBAN formats;
-Data elements for registering IBAN formats.
The internationally agreed IBAN format that complies with GB/T20513 and is registered by the IBAN registration agency is published at http://swilt.com. 0.2 The purpose of this revision of GB/T20543
GB/T20543 is to align the IBAN standard with the IBAN standard of the European Committee for Banking Standards (ECBS) to form a unified globally acceptable standard. This revision of GB/T20543 draws on the practical experience of many European countries, which have implemented IBAN based on the ECBS standard. Compared with the previous version of GB/T20543, the obvious advantage is that this revision stipulates the fixed length of IBAN, as well as the fixed length and position of the bank identifier in IBAN. This advantage allows for more effective authenticity checks and better straight-through processing (STP), which is conducive to reducing costs and improving efficiency. A major concern of this revision is that the fixed length requirement stipulated in GB/T20543 may change domestic account numbers, or the account structure of different countries needs to be coordinated and converted. However, this is not the case. In fact, the fixed length requirement can be met when creating IBAN. In addition, domestic accounts can still be represented by lowercase characters. GB/T20343 has not made any changes to this, that is, lowercase characters can continue to be used, and the check digit algorithm has nothing to do with uppercase and lowercase letters. TTTKAONYKACA
