For quarantine requirements, the relevant provisions of the inspection and quarantine department for wood packaging quarantine shall be met. 4.4 The container body made of plywood shall be at least three-layer board. It shall be made of fully air-dried rotary sawn wood chips, veneer or sawn wood chips. The materials shall be dried in batches and free of any defects that would reduce the strength of the container. Adjacent layers shall be bonded with waterproof glue. Other suitable materials may also be used together with plywood to make the container body. 4.5 The container body made of regenerated wood shall be made of waterproof regenerated wood, such as hardboard, particle board, or other suitable types. SN/T0987.5—2013 4.6 The liner shall be made of suitable materials. The strength of the materials used and the manufacture of the liner shall be compatible with the capacity and future use of the wooden intermediate bulk container. The joints and closures shall be leakproof and able to withstand the pressure and impact that may occur under normal loading and unloading and transportation conditions. 4.7 Any integral pallet bottom or any removable pallet that is part of the wooden intermediate bulk container shall be suitable for mechanical loading and unloading operations when the wooden intermediate bulk container is loaded to its maximum gross weight. 4.8 The design of the pallet or complete chassis shall avoid any protrusions to prevent damage during loading and unloading. 4.9 The container body shall be fastened to the chassis to ensure its stability during loading and unloading and transportation. When a removable pallet is used, there shall be no sharp protrusions on the top surface of the pallet that may damage the wooden intermediate bulk container. Reinforcement devices, such as wooden supports, may be used to increase stacking performance, but such reinforcement devices shall be located outside the liner. 4.10 The stacking load-bearing surface of wooden intermediate bulk containers suitable for stacking shall be able to distribute the load safely. 5 Sampling 5.1 If any of the raw materials, processes and structures are changed, a new application for inspection shall be required. If there are only slight differences between the wooden intermediate bulk container and its design type, such as a slight reduction in external dimensions, selective testing of this wooden intermediate bulk container may be allowed. 5.2 Sampling shall be carried out according to the inspection batch, and the sampling quantity is shown in Table 1. Without affecting the inspection results, the sampling quantity may be reduced and multiple tests may be carried out on one sample at the same time. Test method SN/T0987.5—2013 The wooden intermediate bulk container shall be lifted and lowered twice by a forklift. The forks shall be located in the center and the distance between them shall be equal to three quarters of the length of the entry surface (except for those with fixed entry points). The entry depth shall be three quarters of the depth in the entry direction. This test shall be repeated for each possible entry direction. 6.2.1.4 Qualification criteria There shall be no loss of contents, and the wooden intermediate bulk container, including its chassis, shall not have any permanent deformation or damage that may endanger transportation safety. 6.2.2 Stacking test Scope of application Applicable to various wooden intermediate bulk containers stored in stacks. 6.2.2.2 Sample preparation Wooden intermediate bulk containers shall be loaded to their maximum allowable total weight. 6.2.2.3 Test method Wooden intermediate bulk containers shall be placed bottom up on a hard and flat ground, and then a uniformly distributed test load shall be applied to them for 24 hours. Calculation of the applied test load: The test load applied to the wooden intermediate bulk container shall be at least 1.8 times the sum of the maximum allowable total weight of the number of identical wooden intermediate bulk containers stacked on it during transportation. 6.2.2.4 Qualification criteria There is no loss of the contents, and the wooden intermediate bulk container, including its chassis, does not have any permanent deformation or damage that endangers transportation safety. 6.2.3 Drop test 6.2.3.1 Scope of application Applicable to all kinds of wooden intermediate bulk containers. 6.2.3.2 2 Sample preparation Wooden intermediate bulk containers shall be filled to not less than 95% of their capacity according to their design type. 6.2.3.3 3 Test method Wooden intermediate bulk containers shall be dropped onto a hard, inelastic, smooth, flat and horizontal surface in such a way that the base of the wooden intermediate bulk container is considered to be the most vulnerable part as the impact point. Wooden intermediate bulk containers with a capacity equal to or less than 0.45m2 shall also be subjected to flat drops on the sides, tops and corners. The same wooden intermediate bulk container or different wooden intermediate bulk containers may be used for each drop. See Table 3 for drop heights. Table 3 Drop height Unit (meter) Packing class I 6.2.3.4 Acceptance criteria Packing class II Packing class III No loss of contents. A small amount of material leaks out from the seal after impact. As long as no further leakage occurs, this phenomenon should be considered acceptable. 6.3 Acceptance criteria If all the above tests are qualified, the inspection batch is judged to be qualified. 7 Disposal of unqualified items If only one item of the inspection results is unqualified, double sampling should be carried out for re-inspection. If there is still one or more unqualified items, the inspection batch is judged to be unqualified.
