This standard replaces the GB/T 3003-1982 Ordinary alumino-silicate refractory fiber fe/ts in whole. In addition to a number of editorial changes, the following technical deviations have been made withrespect to the GB/T3003-—1982.Thenameof thestandard ismodifiedNormativereferencesareadded
-Product varieties, including refractory bulk ceramic fibres, ceramic fibre felts, blankets andmodules, boards and pre-formed rigid ceramic fibre shapes, papers, yarns, cloths, tapes, twistedropes and braided ropes, are added;NewmethodsofclassificationsandmarkingareaddedThe qualityappraisal procedure is conductedaccording to the classification rulesof products. The appendixes Aand B are normative ones. This standard was proposed and prepared by SAC/TC 193 Technical Committee on Refractories ofStandardization Administration of China. The previous edition of this standard are as follows:—GB/T3003—1982.
GB/T3003-—2006
Introduction
Refractory ceramic fibres and their products are used more and more widely.Fibre varieties keep in-creasing and the new refractory ceramic fibres of various chemical composition have been developedsuccessfully.Naming and appraising refractory ceramic fibre products on the basis of their chemicalcomposition are not adaptable to the development of science and technology in this field, restrictingthe new technology. Therefore, standard EN 1094-3:2003 Insulating refractory products-Part 3:Clas-sification of insulating products made from ceramic fibres appeared as a new defined classificationstandard
This standard adopts the classification principles of EN 1094-3:2003, determining the permanentchange in dimension on heating of refractory ceramic fibre products according to GB/T 17911-2006,taking the temperature at which the permanent linear shrinkage on heating is no more than the speci-fied value as the classification temperature;for ceramic fibre boards and pre-formed rigid ceramic fi-bre shapes, the permanent linear shrinkage on heating is <2%;for ceramic fibre soft products suchas bulk, felts, blankets, and papers, the permanent linear shrinkage on heating is <4% (rounding offdownward,at intervals of 50 C).Since there is no limit on chemical composition, there is no name ofordinary aluminium silicate fibres, high purity fibres,or high aluminum fibres any more.Take the con-ventional high aluminum fibres for example, due to the difference in the chemical composition andproduction processes, the fibres may belong to the different groups. The difference on the permanentlinear shrinkage on heating of refractory ceramic fibre products resulted from different chemicalcomposition does not mean that the products are qualified or not,but indicates different groups, inother words, the different service temperatures. The refractory ceramic fibre products are classified and marked according to classification tempera-ture in this standard, which is the first time in refractory ceramic fibre industry in China. In order toprovide more conveniences to the related parties, the recommended service temperatures are givenin this standard. The purpose of the recommended service temperature is to prevent the users fromaccidently taking the classification temperature as the safe service temperature of the material,avoi-ding the possible damages.

Classification and groups
4.1 Classification principlePermanent change in dimension on heating of ceramic fibre products is determined according toGB/T17911-2006.The product is classified according to the temperature at which the shrinkage obtained by the permanent linear shrinkage test, does not exceed the given value.2% for ceramic fibre boards and pre-formed rigid ceramic fibre shapes;4%for ceramic fibre soft products such as bulk fibres, felts, blankets, papersClassification and groups
4.2.1 Classification
The classification begins at 850 and ends at 1750 ℃ by a step of 50℃.Ceramic fibre products are2

classified according to the temperatures at which their permanent linear shrinkages onheating satisfythe specifications in item 4.1.The classification temperatures are rounded downwards to the integralmultipleof50,seeTable1.
