GB/T17692-1999
The components liable to affect the power of the engine shall be so designed, constructed andassembled as to enable the engine in normal use, despitethe vibration towhich it maybesubjected,to complywith theprovisions of this standard.5.2Description of tests
5.2.I The net power test shall consist of a run at full throttle for positive-ignitionengines and at fixed full-load fuel injection pump setting for diesel engines, theengine being equipped as specified in Table l of Annex C to this standard.5.2.2Measurements shallbetakenata sufficientnumber(morethan8)of engine speedsto define correctly the power curve between the lowest and the highest engine speedsrecommended by the manufacturer. This range of speeds must include the speeds ofrevolution at which the engine produces its maximum power and its maximum torque.5.2.3 The fuel used shall be one available on the market. In any case of dispute, the fuel shall be one of the reference fuels defined by Annex E to this standard5.2.4Measurements shallbecarried outaccordingto theprovisionof AnnexCtothisstandard.
5.2.5 The test report shall contain the results and all the calculations requiredtofind the netpower, as listed in theAppendix CA to Annex Cto this standard togetherwith the characteristics of the engine listed in Annex A to this standard5.3Interpretationofresults
Thenet power indicatedby themanufacturer forthe type of engine shall be acceptedif it does not differ by more than +2% for maximum power and more than +4% at theother measurement points on the curve with a tolerance of + l.5% for engine speed, from the values measured by the technical service on the engine submitted for testing.6.CONFORMITY OF PRODUCTION
6.1 For verifying whether the engine products conform to the approved engine type, conformity production checks shall be carried out according to Annex D to thisstandard

This complete exhaust system shall be fitted as provided for the intended application:where there isa risk of anappreciable effect on the engine power;in the case of two-stroke and positive-ignition engines;whenthemanufacturerrequeststhatthis beshoulddoneIn other cases, an equivalent system may be installed provided the pressure measured at theexit of the engine exhaust systemdoes not differ by more than looo Pa from that specified bythe manufacturer.
Theexit from the engine exhaust systemis definedas a point 15ommdownstream fromthe termination of the part of the exhaust system mounted on the engine.27
If an exhaust brake is incorporated in the engine, the throttle valve must be fixed in a fullopen position.

5/ The radiator, the fan, the water pump and the thermostat shall be located on the test bench inthe same relative positions as on the vehicle. The cooling liquid circulation shall be operated bythe engine water pump only.
Cooling of the liquid may be cowl be produced either by the engine radiator or by an externalcircuit, provided that the pressure loss of this circuit and the pressure at the pump inlet remainsubstantiallythe sameas those of theengine cooling system,The radiator shutter,if incorporated, shall be in the open position.Where the fan, radiator and cowl system cannot conveniently be fitted to the engine, the powerabsorbed by the fan when separately mounted in its correct position in relation to the radiator andcowl (if used),must bedetermined at the speeds correspondingto the engine speeds used formeasurement of the engine power either by calculation from standard characteristics or bypractical tests. This power, corrected to the standard atmospheric condition defined in paragraphC5.2, should be deducted from the corrected power.6/Where a disconnectable or progressive fan or blower is incorporated, the test shall be madewith the disconnectable fan (or blower) disconnected or with the progressive fan or blowerrunning atmaximum slip.
7/The thermostat maybe fixed in the fullyopen position.8/ Minimum power of the generator: the power of the generator shall be limited to that necessaryfor the operation of accessories which are indispensable for the operation of the engine. If theconnection of a battery is necessary,a fully charged battery in good order must be used.9/ Charge air cooled engines shall be tested with charge air cooling, whether liquid or air cooled, but if the engine manufacturer prefers, a test bench system may replace the air cooled cooler. Ineither case, the measurement of power at each speed shall be made with the same pressure dropand temperature drop of the engine air across the charge air cooler on the test bench system asthosespecified bythe manufacturerfor thesystem on the completevehicle.1o/Theymayinclude,forexample,EGRsystem,catalytic convertor, thermal reactor, secondary air supply system and fuel evaporation protecting system.c2.4Setting conditions
