Notice on the release of the national standard "Urban Gas Design Code"

According to the requirements of the State Planning Commission's Document No. Jizong [1986] 250, the China Municipal Engineering North China Design Institute and relevant units have revised the "Urban Gas Design Code" TJ28-78 and renamed it "Urban Gas Design Code", which has been reviewed by relevant departments. The "Urban Gas Design Code" GB50028-93 is now approved as a mandatory national standard and will be implemented from November 1, 1993. The original "Urban Gas Design Code" TJ28-78 will be abolished at the same time. This specification is managed by the Urban Construction Department of the Ministry of Construction, and its specific interpretation and other work is the responsibility of the China Municipal Engineering North China Design Institute, and its publication and distribution is organized by the Standard and Quota Research Institute of the Ministry of Construction.

National Standard "Urban Gas Design Code" GB50028-93 has been partially revised by China Municipal Engineering North China Design Institute in conjunction with relevant units. It has been reviewed by relevant departments and the partially revised provisions are now approved for implementation from October 1, 1998. This specification is edited by our department in accordance with the notice of the State Planning Commission's No. 19861250 document, and is specifically revised by the China Municipal Engineering North China Design Institute and relevant units from the "Urban Gas Design Specification J28-78". During the revision process, the revision group conducted extensive investigations and studies in accordance with the party's principles and policies and combined with the actual situation of urban gas in my country, carefully summarized the experience of many years of specification implementation, carried out a number of special research, absorbed some scientific research results, referred to the standards of advanced countries in the world, and widely solicited opinions from relevant units across the country. Finally, our department and relevant departments reviewed and finalized it. This specification is divided into 7 chapters and 8 appendices. Its main contents are: general principles, gas consumption and gas quality, gas preparation, purification, gas transmission and distribution system, liquefied petroleum gas supply, gas application, etc. The main contents of this revision are:
1. Chapter 2 Gas Consumption and Gas Quality cites the quality standards of natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas;
2. Chapter 3 Gas Production adds coal gasification and cancels the vertical box furnace gas production in the original specification;
3. Chapter 4 Purification adds emission and liquid sealing; 4. Chapter 5 Gas Transmission and Distribution System adds gas pipeline calculation, gate station, gas steel pipeline and storage tank anti-corrosion, monitoring and data acquisition; 5. Chapter 6 Liquefied Petroleum Gas Supply adds liquid liquefied petroleum gas transportation, fire protection distance of buildings and structures, fire protection, water supply and drainage, electrical explosion-proof, lightning protection and anti-static, etc.; 6. Chapter 7 Gas Application adds the removal of combustion smoke; 7. Chapters 3, 4 and 6 respectively add fire and explosion hazard classification levels. 1 General Principles
1 This specification is formulated to ensure that the design of urban gas projects meets the requirements of safe production, supply guarantee, rational gas use1.0.1
and environmental protection. 2 This specification is applicable to the design of new, expanded or renovated urban gas projects. 1.0.2
3 The design of urban gas projects should actively adopt effective new processes, technologies, new materials and new equipment on the basis of continuous summary of production, construction and scientific experiments, so as to achieve advanced technology and economic rationality.
1.0.4 The design of urban gas projects should follow my country's energy policy, be comprehensively planned, and be carried out on the basis of feasibility studies, combining long-term and short-term, focusing on the short-term, and determining a reasonable plan after comprehensive technical and economic comparison.
1.0.5 In addition to complying with this specification, the design of urban gas projects should also comply with the provisions of the relevant standards and specifications currently in force in the country.
