1 Scope of application National Standard of the People's Republic of China Rolled-up punched paper tape for data Interchange - general requirements Rolled-up punched paper tape for data Interchange - general requirements UDC 681.327.44 GB 2830 81 This standard specifies the main characteristics and some conventions of roll-up punched paper tape for data exchange, in order to facilitate the interchange of such paper tapes. This standard is applicable to roll-up punched paper tape for data exchange, mainly tapes without core or reel, but also applicable to paper tapes wound on core or reel. 2 Transportation The punched paper tape for data exchange shall not be damaged or contaminated during transportation from one device to another. For this purpose, it shall be protected by a suitable hard container. 8 Storage conditions The paper tape should be kept away from overheating, over-humidity or over-dryness, and should be stored in an environment with a relative humidity of 40% to 70%. If it is not stored in the above conditions, the paper tape must be conditioned for several hours or even days before use to re-adapt the paper tape to the specified environmental conditions. 4 Format of exchanging paper tapes 4.1 Pre-negotiation Before exchanging data with perforated paper tape, the two parties usually need to agree on some details in advance. For example, the type of data, the direction of the paper tape to be fed and wound when reading, the direction and method of winding, the packaging and delivery method, etc. 4.2 Header and tail Punched paper tape 1. The data-free paper segments before the first character and after the last character of the data segment are called the head and tail, respectively. The head and tail shall not be shorter than 1.2 meters. There shall be no fewer than 100 center guide holes at the head and tail of the tape, immediately before and after the data segment. 4.3 Direction of movement marks The tape used for data exchange shall be marked with the direction of movement. These marks may be arrows cut into the ends of the tape, pre-printed or hand-made arrow symbols, or pasted-on marks. If pre-printed, such marks shall be printed on the outer surface of the unperforated tape, shall be visible when perforated, shall be printed with low-concentration ink, shall be wear-resistant, and shall be printed every 150 mm (or less) along the entire length of the tape. www.bzxz.net 4.4 Outer diameter of the tape roll The outer diameter of the tape roll shall not exceed 150 mm. If a larger outer diameter is required, it may be agreed upon by the parties concerned. 4.5 Joints Issued by the State Administration of Standardization on December 28, 1981 Implemented on October 1, 1982 GB2880-81 Unless otherwise specially arranged by the relevant parties, no joints are allowed on the paper tape. 4.6 Handwritten letters If there is a handwritten message, it should be written outside the data section.
