GB/T14257—2009
This standard is formulated with reference to Chapter 6 "Guide to the placement of bar code symbols" of the GS1 General Specification (Version 8.0) of the International Article Numbering Association (GS1), and some expressions applicable to the norm are changed to expressions applicable to the Chinese standard. This standard replaces GB/T14257---2002 "Bar code symbol position for goods". The main changes of this standard compared with GB/T11257-2002 are as follows: the name of the standard is changed to "Guide to the placement of bar code symbols for goods bar code"; --- the title of Chapter 4 is changed to "General rules for the placement of bar code symbols for goods", and the generally applicable bar code symbols are described in Chapter 4. The placement principles are as follows: "Select barcode symbols that match the application environment" (4.1), "Avoid conflicts between different barcode identifiers" (4.2), "Determine the appropriate number of barcode symbols" (4.3), "Relatively uniform positions and easy to scan" (1.1), "Avoid selected positions" (4.5) and "Choose appropriate barcode symbol placement direction" (4.6). "Preferred position" (original standard 4.2), "Other positions" (original standard 4.3) and "Edge spacing" (original standard 1.4) are moved to Chapter 5; ... - The title of Chapter 5 is changed to "Placement of barcode symbols for sale goods", and "Irregular packaging" (5.4.13), "Mountain version" (5.4.14) and transparent plastic packaging (5.4.15) are added; Chapter 6 "Placement of barcode symbols on storage and transportation packaged goods" is marked; ... Chapter 7 "Placement of barcode symbols on logistics units" is added. Appendix A of this standard is a normative appendix.
This standard is proposed and managed by the National Logistics Information Management Standardization Technical Committee. The drafting unit of this standard is China Article Coding Center. The main drafters of this standard are: Xiong Liyong, Zhao Chen, Wang Yingchun, Liu Quanyun, Liu Yan, Zhang Juanyuan, Guo Weihua. 1 Scope
Guidelines for the placement of barcode symbols for commodity barcodes
This standard specifies the general rules for the placement of product label code symbols and provides guidelines for the placement of commodity barcode symbols. This standard applies to the design of commodity barcode symbol positions and positions. 2 Normative references

GB/T16830 Commodity code Storage and transportation packaging commodity coding and barcode representation GB/T18127 Commodity barcode Logistics unit coding and barcode representation 3 Terms and definitions
GB12904, GB/T12005 and the following terminology definitions are applicable to this standard. 3. 1
The front of the retail commodity package is the main display surface on the commodity package that clearly displays the trademark and product name. 3.2
The back of the retail commodity package is the outer surface on the commodity package that is opposite to the main display surface. 4: General rules for placing commodity barcode symbols
4.1 Choose barcode symbols that match the application environment. According to the expected scanning environment, place barcode symbols that comply with GB12904, GB/T16830 or GB/T18127 on commodities or logistics units. EAN-13, UPC-A, EAN-8 or UPC·E barcode symbols should be placed on retail commodities; EAN-13, UPC-A, ITF-14 or UCC/EAN-128 barcode symbols can be placed on shipping packaging commodities; UCC/EAN-128 barcode symbols should be placed on logistics units.
4.2 Avoid conflicting barcodes
Two or more barcode symbols representing different product codes should not appear on one product. 4.3 Determine the appropriate number of barcode symbols
Usually, only one barcode symbol representing the product code is placed on one product. However, for heavy or bulky consumer goods (see 5.4.12) and irregularly packaged retail goods (see 5.4.13), as well as storage and transportation packaging goods (see Chapter 6) and logistics units (see Chapter 7), two or more barcode symbols representing the same product code may be placed on one product. 1
|tt||GB/T 14257—2009
4. 4 Relatively uniform position and easy to scan
The position of the barcode symbol in various commodity items 1 should be relatively uniform, so as to facilitate scanning and reading: 4.5 Avoid choosing positions
Avoid placing the barcode symbol:
Places that may cause the barcode symbol to be deformed or otherwise damaged; places with perforations, punching cuts, openings, binding nails, wire drawing, links, folds, hems, crosses, corrugations, ridges, pleats, other graphics and rough textures;
At corners or places with excessive surface curvature
Places that may be covered by the folds or overhangs of the packaging 4.6 Choose appropriate barcode symbol placement
4.6.1 Place the barcode symbol on the package
(see Figure 11a). When placed horizontally, the barcode symbol should be read from left to right for human identification, and the barcode symbol should be placed horizontally in the printing direction, see Figure 1bl.
Coordinate.
Educational Placement Guidelines
4.6.2 On the front of the product packaging, the barcode (8) should not be greater than 30°, see Figure 2; the barcode used before should be greater than 30°. The maximum value of the barcode weight coefficient

If the area allows, the barcode can be placed with other graphics that are most similar to the barcode symbol.
When coding symbols, the curvature of the bar symbol surface is slightly different, see the instructions for use

5 Placement of bar code symbol for sale
5.1 Preferred position
The preferred position of the bar code symbol is in the lower right half of the back of the product packaging. Past: The wooden rule is not applicable to irregularly packaged products, serial publications and some transparent plastic packaged products. 5.2 Other Locations
When the back of the product packaging is not suitable for placing the barcode symbol, the barcode symbol can be placed in the lower right half of another suitable surface of the product packaging. However, for large or bulky products, the barcode symbol should not be placed on the bottom of the product packaging. 5.3 Edge Spacing
The spacing between the barcode symbol and the adjacent edge of the product packaging should not be less than 8mm or greater than 100mm. 5.4 Placement of Barcode Symbols on Common Types of Packaging 5.4.1 Box Packaging
For box packaging, the barcode symbol should be printed in the lower right half of the back of the packaging, close to the edge, see Figure 4a). When the back of the packaging is not suitable for printing the barcode symbol, it can be printed in the lower right half of the front, see Figure 4b): The distance from the edge should comply with the provisions of 5.3. Barcode number
6) Optional
The barcode symbol should be printed on the back or the lower right half of the front of the package, see Figure 5. The barcode symbol should not be placed on the bottleneck or pot neck. When the barcode symbol is placed parallel to the generatrix of the curved surface, the selection of the magnification factor and X dimension is shown in Appendix A. Note: For (, i.e. modular assembly type product case code, the size is the module width. 5.4.3 Can and tube type packaging
The barcode symbol should be placed in the lower right half of the back or front of the packaging, see Figure 6. The barcode symbol should not be placed in places with corrugations, seams and ridges. When the barcode symbol is placed parallel to the generatrix of the curved surface, the selection of the magnification factor and X size is shown in Appendix A. 5.4.4 Barrel and basin type packaging
The barcode symbol should be placed in the lower right half of the back or front of the packaging, see Figure 7a), b). When it is not appropriate to place it on the back, front and side, the barcode symbol can be placed on the lid of the packaging, but the depth (h) of the lid should not be greater than 12mm, see Figure 7c). 5.4.5 Bag type packaging
The barcode symbol should be placed in the lower right half of the back or front of the packaging, as close to the middle of the bag as possible, or on the flat and wrinkle-free part of the bag after filling the contents, see Figure 8. Barcode symbols should not be placed at seams or under folds. h
