National Standard of the People's Republic of China Determibatfon af colour for Industrial alkylbenzene Determibatfon af colour for Industrial alkylbenzeneGB/T 5177: 1—93 Replaces GB 5177.1-85 This standard adopts ISO 2211-1977 & Liquid chemicals-Determination of colour-in Hazen units (platinum-cobalt colour)). 1 Subject content and scope of application This standard specifies the method for determining the colour of industrial alkylbenzene. This standard is applicable to the determination of the colour of industrial alkylbenzene. 2 Principle Use a spectrophotometer to measure the absorbance of a series of colour standard solutions at a wavelength of 373nm and draw a colour standard curve. Taking advantage of the similar spectral characteristic absorption of industrial alkylbenzene samples and platinum-cobalt solutions, the absorbance of the sample is measured at the same wavelength, and then the corresponding platinum-cobalt colour value is found in the colour standard curve and expressed in Hazen colour units. Hazen color unit: the color of 1 mg of platinum (nitroplatinic acid form) and 2 mg of cobalt chloride hexahydrate per liter of solution. 3 Reagentsbzxz.net 3. 1 Potassium fluoroplatinate (K,PtCl,): analytical grade. 3.2 Cobalt fluoride (CoCl,·6H,0) (GB 1270): analytical grade. 3.3 Hydrochloric acid (GB622): 021.19. high grade. 4 Instrument Spectrophotometer: an instrument with a wavelength of 373 nm, such as Model 721 or a spectrophotometer with equivalent performance. 5 Test body sequence 5. 1 Preparation of platinum-cobalt standard solution Weigh 1.245 g potassium chloroplatinate and 1.000 g cobalt oxide, add 100 mL distilled water to dissolve, then add 100 mL concentrated hydrochloric acid to dissolve completely, then transfer to a 1000 mL volumetric flask, dilute to scale with distilled water. Transfer the above solution to 20 100 mL volumetric flasks according to the volume listed in Table 1, dilute to scale with distilled water, spread evenly, and prepare the ·· series color standard solution. According to the absorbance of the obtained sample, the corresponding color value is found from the absorbance-color value standard curve, which is the color value of the industrial alkylbenzene sample. 6 Precision For the color value of this method at 570 Hazen, the maximum standard deviation is 2.60.
