1.1 This standard specifies the graphical representation of the control characters of GB 1988-80 "7-bit coded character set for information processing interchange". These characters are located in columns 0 and 1 of their codes. For the space character (SP) and the erasure character (DFI) which are not usually printed and displayed, this standard also gives their graphical representations. In the code table, the space character is located at position 2, center, and the erasure character is located at position 15. 1.2 This standard represents control characters in two ways: Special symbol representation: For each control character that is not normally printed or displayed, a separate graphic representation is given.
b. Alphanumeric representation: Each control character is represented by a combination of two characters. It contains the name of the control character in GB1988.
1.3 When control characters that are not printed or displayed need to be represented in a graphic form, this standard provides their visual graphics. It is suitable for devices such as paper tape punchers, printers and displays, and can be used in various situations such as monitoring and diagnosis. 1.4 This standard does not specify the precise design of the symbol shape. 1.5 The graphic representation specified in this standard does not require every device to implement all of them. It can only implement some of the symbols according to actual needs. However, all graphic representations of control characters in GB1988 must comply with the provisions of this standard. 1.6 The alphanumeric representation of each control character should be regarded as a separate symbol. Depending on the device and its implementation method, it can occupy one or more positions in the printed or displayed line. 1.7 This standard equivalently adopts the international standard 1S02047-1975 "Information processing - seven-bit coded character set control word titles"
