GB/T1 "Guidelines for Standardization Work" together with GB/T20000 "Guidelines for Standardization Work", GB/T20001 "Rules for Writing Standards" and
GB/T20002 "Drafting of Specific Content in Standards" constitute a basic series of national standards to support the formulation and revision of standards.
GB/T1 "Guidelines for Standardization Work" is divided into two parts:
--- Part 1: Structure and Writing of Standards;
--- Part 2: Procedure for Formulating Standards.
This part is Part 1 of GB/T1.
This part replaces GB/T 1.1-2000 "Guidelines for standardization work Part 1: Structure and writing rules for standards" and GB/T1.2-2002 "Guidelines for standardization work Part 2: Methods for determining the content of normative technical elements in standards". This part is mainly based on GB/T1.1-2000 and integrates part of GB/T1.2-2002. Compared with GB/T1.1-2000, the main technical changes are as follows, except for editorial changes:
--- Added the provisions that the subdivision of untitled items should be avoided and the expression form that can emphasize the key terms or phrases in untitled items (see 5.2.4);
--- Added the expression form that can emphasize the key terms or phrases in the listed items (see 5.2.6);
--- In the provisions of the preamble, deleted the statement of the nature of the appendix, added the drafting rules based on the preparation of the standard and the relevant instructions on patents (see 6.1.3, 6.1.3 of the 2000 edition);
--- In the provisions of the introduction, added the relevant instructions on the patents involved in the standard (see 6.1.4);
--- In the provisions of the list of normative references, added the rules for listing online documents (see 6.2.3);
--- The provisions for marking the correspondence between international documents and standards listed in the list of normative references have been modified. Only Chinese standards that are being drafted and have a degree of consistency with international documents need to be marked (see 6.2.3, 6.2.3 of the 2000 edition);
--- The introductory words of normative references and terms and definitions have been modified (see 6.2.3 and 6.3.2, 6.2.3 and 6.3.1 of the 2000 edition);
--- The drafting and expression of terms and definitions in the appendix have been deleted, and the content related to the compilation of terms and definitions in non-terminology standards has been moved into the main text (see 6.3.2, Appendix C of the 2000 edition);
--- The selection of technical elements has been added (see 6.3.1);
--- The content related to product standards in normative technical elements has been deleted (see 6.3.4, 6.3.5 and 6.3.7 of the 2000 edition);
--- Added the description of technical elements (see 7.1.3);
--- Added the rules for the arrangement and division of figures (see 7.3.7 and 7.3.10);

--- Added the selection of numerical values (see 8.5);
--- Modified the format of the table of contents (see 9.3, 7.3 of the 2000 edition);
--- Modified the line spacing of chapter titles and article titles (see 9.9.1, 7.6 of the 2000 edition);
--- Deleted the provisions for subdivision in the column (see 7.7 of the 2000 edition);
--- Deleted the provisions for the arrangement of multiple appendices (see 7.13 of the 2000 edition);
--- Added the provisions for the line spacing between the figure and the preceding article, the table and the following article, and the figure title and table title (see 9.9.6);
--- Added detailed provisions for the marking of standardized items (see Appendix E);
--- Added auxiliary verbs indicating possibility and modified the equivalent expression form of auxiliary verbs (see Appendix F, Appendix E of the 2000 edition).
This part was prepared using the redrafting method with reference to ISO/IEC Directives Part 2: 2004 "Structure and Drafting Rules for International Standards", and the degree of consistency with ISO/IEC Directives Part 2 is non-equivalent.
