Introduction to standards:

This standard specifies the classification, requirements, test methods, inspection rules and marking, packaging, transportation and storage of paper barrels. This standard applies to the design, production, inspection and testing of paper barrels for transport packaging. This standard does not apply to paper barrels for packaging that are in direct contact with food or medicine. This standard replaces GB/T14187-1993 "Paper barrels for packaging containers". Compared with GB/T14187-1993, this standard has the following major changes: - The scope has been added with "This standard applies to the design, production, inspection and testing of all types of paper barrels for transport packaging" and "This standard does not apply to paper barrels for packaging that are in direct contact with food or medicine"; - The product classification has been changed to 3 levels according to the severity of the storage and transportation circulation environment; - The product categories have been deleted; - The preferred size of the maximum outer diameter of the paper barrel closure has been deleted; - The inspection item of the maximum outer diameter of the closure has been deleted; - The inspection item of the inner diameter of the paper barrel has been added; - The drop height requirement in the drop resistance performance has been modified. This standard applies to the design, production, inspection and testing of paper barrels for transport packaging. This standard does not apply to paper barrels for packaging that directly contact food and medicine.
This standard replaces GB/T14187-1993 "Paper barrels for packaging containers".
Compared with GB/T14187-1993, the main changes of this standard are as follows:
--- The scope adds that this standard is applicable to the design, production, inspection and testing of various types of paper barrels for transport packaging and that this standard is not applicable to paper barrels for direct contact with food and medicine packaging;
--- The product classification is changed to 3 levels according to the severity of the storage and transportation circulation environment;

This standard specifies the classification, requirements, test methods, inspection rules and marking, packaging, transportation and storage of paper barrels. This standard is applicable to the design and inspection of paper barrels for transport packaging. This standard does not apply to paper barrels for packaging that directly contact food and drugs. 2 Normative references

5.1 Appearance
Appearance requirements of paper barrels are shown in Table 2.

6.1 Standard environment for sample conditioning and testing The standard environment for sample conditioning and testing is 23℃±2\C and 50%±5% relative humidity. The sample pre-treatment is completed under this condition. Stacking and drop tests should be carried out with actual contents as much as possible. Simulants should be used. The barrel should be filled with a mixture of sand and sawdust to reach 95% of the specified volume and sealed. The leakage of the mixture should be consistent with the sample pre-treatment conditions.
6.2 Appearance inspection
The appearance of the paper barrel should be tested under natural light. 6.3 Dimension inspection
The dimensional tolerance of the paper barrel is 1mm. Universal measuring tools are used for testing. 6.4 Stacking and drop performance
6.4.1 The stacking test shall be conducted in accordance with GB/T4857.3, and the number of tests shall be 3. 6.4.2 Drop test The samples shall be marked in accordance with GB/T4857.1 and tested in accordance with GB/T4857.5. 7.1 Inspection classification
7.1. 1 Factory inspection

7. 1.2 Type inspection
The type inspection items are all the items specified in 5. When one of the following situations occurs, type inspection should be carried out: when new products or old products are transferred to the factory for trial production and appraisal; a)
b) After normal production, if there are major changes in materials, structures, and processes that may affect product performance; during normal production, it should be carried out once a year;
d) When production is resumed after a long-term suspension of 6 months; when the inspection results are significantly different from the last type inspection; e
f) When the national quality supervision and inspection agency requires type inspection. 7.2 Sampling
