GB/T20493.1---2006/IS012653-1:2000GB/T20493 "Test Standard for Black and White Scanning of Electronic Imaging Office Documents" is divided into two parts: Part 1: Characteristics; Part 2: Usage. This part is the first part of GB/T20439, which is equivalent to ISO12653-1:2000 "Test Standard for Black and White Scanning of Electronic Imaging Office Documents Part 1: Characteristics" (English version). This part amends the editorial errors in ISO12653-1:2000 as follows: In the original text 4.2f) "Test chart No. 2 with R20 series frequencies of 1 to 18 line pairs per millimeter and 1.8 to 18 line pairs per millimeter", "1.8 to 18 line pairs per millimeter" should be "1.4 to 18 line pairs per millimeter". This part was proposed and coordinated by the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Document Imaging Technology (SAC/TC86). This part was drafted by the first subcommittee of the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Document Imaging Technology. The main drafters of this part are Liang Ting, Dong Jianwei and Li Ming. This part is published for the first time.
GB/T20493.1—2006/ISO12653-1:2000
After scanning office documents into the electronic image management system with a black and white scanner, a simple and reliable means is needed to evaluate their The quality of the output image. The test targets specified in this part of GB/T20439 "Test targets for black and white scanning of office documents in electronic imaging" provide system users with a means to evaluate the output quality and the system's ability to produce suitable output. There are test charts and test targets for microfilming technology and fax, but these test charts and test targets are unique to these two fields and are not suitable for the needs of document scanning system users. 1 Scope

Part 1: Characteristics
This part of GB/T20439 specifies the test targets for evaluating the performance quality consistency of flatbed or drum-type black and white reflective scanners used in electronic image management systems during their use. Characteristics of the test standard. The test standard is used for: a) routine checks on the performance of the system; b) determining the performance limits of the system.
This standard applies to the evaluation of the output quality of black and white scanners for black and white or color office documents (whether they are halftone or color). This standard does not apply to color scanners or scanners used to scan transparent or semi-transparent documents. Note: For additional standards used to evaluate the output quality of black and white scanners using continuous tone and color, see GB/T 20439.2. 2 Normative references
The clauses in the following documents become clauses of this part through reference in this part of GB/T 20439. For any dated referenced document, all subsequent amendments (excluding errata) or revisions are not applicable to this part; however, parties to an agreement based on this part are encouraged to study whether they can be used. The latest versions of these documents shall apply. For undated references, the latest versions shall apply to this part.

The terms and definitions established in GB/T 20225-2006 and the following terms and definitions apply to this part. 3.1
Test elementtestelement
The pattern represented on the test target.
Example, ruler, grayscale, circle. 3.2
continuoustone
Continuoustone
The variation of tones in a document represented by areas of different densities. 4 Test targets
4.1 General
The black and white test targets specified in this standard include characters and graphics as test elements. 4.2 Description of test elements
The test targets shall consist of the following test elements arranged as shown in Figures 1 and 2. The quality of the test elements on the target should be higher than the final rejection point of the scanner being tested, and the determination of this point can enable the user to clearly identify the nature of the document that is difficult to produce a satisfactory image.
Note: The structure of the test target shown in Figure 1 is a reduced reproduction. The test target should normally fill an A4 page. The test elements described below are located in the areas marked by the corresponding letters on the test plate in Figure 2. a) Zone A: Www.bzxZ.net
A 10 mm wide frame, subdivided into millimeter squares, which outline the outer edge of the plate. A 10 mm long vertical line is drawn from the midpoint of each side of the plate to the center of the plate, and the vertical line is divided into 1 mm and 5 mm. Eight diamond elements, two on each side of the plate, the outer ends of the diamonds touch the outer edge of the plate. b) Zone B:
-A diagonal line with two marks. The two marks are equidistant from the center of the plate. e) Zone C:
Three concentric circles with the center of the plate and equidistant horizontal and vertical diameter lines drawn. d) Zone D:
R20 series ISO character set with a height of 45μrm×10 to 280μm×10 (see GB/T184052001). e) E Zone:
Characters of various sizes and fonts selected, including at least one serif letter and at least one sans serif letter. The minimum character size used should be the typical minimum character size normally scanned by the system. The character size and font used can be specified on the test mark. DF Zone:
Test chart No. 2 with R20 series frequencies of 1 to 18 line pairs per mm and 1.4 to 18 line pairs per mm (see GB/T6161-1994).
g) G Zone:
Eight groups of rectangles marked A to H. Each group of rectangles contains a white rectangle with a wedge-shaped black line and a similar rectangle with opposite polarity. The black and white rectangles are separated by a ruler indicating the size of the adjacent line in microns. h) H Zone:
Horizontal and vertical rectangular areas with uniform diffuse reflection visual density, which should be not less than 1.2 measured according to ISO54:1995. i) Zone I:
Small non-alphanumeric symbols with wide spacing. j) Zone J:
Two pairs of opposite continuous tone gradient density wedges, with diffuse reflection visual density of 0.2~1.5 measured according to GB/T12822--1991, and marked as a~i,
k) Zone K:
Gray scale spectrum containing four halftone light modes, with the range of light modes from 10% to 90%, the step difference is 10%, and the screen sizes are 25 line pairs per centimeter, 33 line pairs per centimeter, 40 line pairs per centimeter and 60 line pairs per centimeter respectively. Note: The gray scale spectrum range represents the percentage of black/white in the halftone. 1) Zone L:
A Pestrikov star diagram, and the frequency of each blank circle is indicated in line pairs per millimeter at the corresponding position. The pattern consists of radial black and white pattern lines with the same angular frequency distributed in the range of 360° and three white concentric circles at frequencies of 1.97 line pairs per millimeter, 3.94 line pairs per millimeter and 7.87 line pairs per millimeter. m) Arrow:
indicates the direction in which the target plate should be placed into the scanner. 4.3 Substrate
The test target should be made on a matte white opaque substrate. The size of the substrate should be the typical size of the document usually scanned (e.g. A4).
4.4 Test target for double-sided scanner
The target described in 4.2 is only suitable for single-sided scanner. For double-sided scanner, a double-sided target with the same pattern on both sides should be used. The target can be composed of two targets that meet the requirements of 4.2 and 4.3, back to back. 2
