This standard is formulated in accordance with the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Prevention and Control of Occupational Diseases. From the date of implementation of this standard, the original standard WS180-1999 will be invalidated at the same time.
Chapters 4 to 7 of this standard are mandatory, and the rest are recommended. In order to strengthen the radiation protection and safety management during the storage, application and transportation of sealed Y radioactive sources, to serialize, scope and standardize the design and manufacture of various types of sealed Y radioactive source containers commonly used in my country, and to comply with the principle of optimization of radiation protection, this standard was drafted based on the investigation and research on the sanitary protection of source containers during the production, use, storage and transportation of sealed Y radioactive sources and their application devices in my country, and with reference to relevant domestic and foreign materials. This standard was proposed and managed by the Ministry of Health.
The drafting unit of this standard: Institute of Radiation Medicine, Shandong Academy of Medical Sciences. The main drafters of this standard: Zong Xiyuan, Deng Daping, Sun Zuozhong, Qiu Yuhui. The Ministry of Health is responsible for the interpretation of this standard.
Sanitary Protection Standard for Sealed Y Radioactive Source Containers
1 Scope
GBZ135-2002
This standard specifies the general requirements, radiation protection requirements and additional protection requirements for sealed Y radioactive source containers as transport containers or working source storage containers. This standard applies to the design, manufacture and use of general storage and transport containers for sealed Y radioactive sources of various activities and energies, and also applies to the design, manufacture and use of working source storage containers used in conjunction with Y radiation application devices.

The following terms and definitions apply to this standard. 3.1
Sealed y radiation source container sealedy radiation sources container A container with radiation protection performance that is loaded with sealed Y radiation sources and used to store or transport radioactive sources. 3.2
Y radiation application equipment equipment using y radiation A device or equipment that is equipped with a sealed Y radiation source and uses its Y radiation for radiation processing, non-destructive testing, material level indication, technical indicator detection and radiotherapy. 3.3
Working storage container (or source exchange container) workingstorecontainer In the gamma radiation application device, it is used for the storage or source exchange of sealed gamma radiation sources and also serves as a protective container for transportation.
Special transport reprinttransport
Transportation by the consignor using special vehicles 4 General requirements for sealed gamma radiation source containers
4.1 The design of the structure, material, quality and volume of the sealed gamma radiation source container must be based on the type of loaded radiation source, activity, radiation energy, mode of transportation, packaging level and leakage radiation level (see Table 1) to ensure stable placement, easy loading and unloading, safe transportation and convenient use.
