The public information guidance system is an information system that guides people to carry out activities in public places. The system can be composed of the following interconnected subsystems: information guidance systems for city entrances and exits (such as airports, railway stations, long-distance bus stations, ports, docks, etc.), information guidance systems for urban transportation, information guidance systems for urban public services and entertainment facilities, etc. The main guidance elements that constitute the public information guidance system are: graphic signs, text signs, plan diagrams, information boards, block guide maps, and portable printed materials used for guidance. The characteristic of graphic signs is that they can transcend language and cultural barriers and convey information intuitively and quickly. The public information guidance system established by the combination of graphic signs, text signs and other guidance elements can enable people who are new to a strange city to obtain the required information conveniently and quickly, and reach their destination under their guidance. 3 Terms and definitions
The terms and definitions established in GB/T15565 and the following terms and definitions apply to this part of GB/T20501. 3.1
Sign carrier
The material that carries and displays the visual elements of the sign. 3.2
Combination signcombination signbzxZ.net
A sign expressing one meaning formed by the same or different types of signs arranged according to certain rules on the same sign carrier. 3.3
Multiple signmultiplesign
A sign expressing multiple meanings formed by two or more graphic signs with or without text signs arranged according to certain rules on the same sign carrier.
4 General
4.1 Standard graphic symbols should be used to form graphic signs. Graphic signs formed by standard graphic symbols should not have text auxiliary signs.
4.2 Graphic symbols in GB/T10001 should be used to form graphic signs; when forming graphic signs, the size of the graphic symbols in the graphic signs (a,) (see Figure 1) should be enlarged or reduced in proportion to the size of the graphic symbols in GB/T10001. 1) Standard graphic symbols refer to the graphic symbols specified in national standards. 1
GB/T20501.1—2006
4.3 If there are no suitable standard graphic symbols, the required graphic symbols shall be designed in accordance with the provisions of GB/T16903.1; the graphic signs formed by non-standard graphic symbols should be accompanied by text auxiliary signs. 4.4 The shape and color of public information graphic signs shall be obviously different from the main safety signs set in the same environment. 5 Graphic signs
5.1 Composition
5.1.1 Graphic signs are usually composed of graphic symbols, symbol background colors and (or) borders (see Figure 1). Graphic symbol
Symbol background color
Graphic symbol size:
-Graphic sign size.
Figure 1 Composition of graphic signs
5.1.2 When forming a graphic sign, a border and (or) symbol background color shall be used to form the sign area. The shape of the public information graphic sign shall be square.
5.1.3 When using borders, the border width should be 0.015 to 0.03 times the size of the graphic symbol (a). 5.1.4 The appearance of the logo can be improved by rounding the corners of the border or the corners of the logo area formed by the background color, but the logo shape should remain square (see Figure 2).
Figure 2 Graphic logo design: Example 1
5.1.5 The design of the standard graphic symbol should not be changed, and other visual elements such as text should not be added within the logo area. 5.1.6 When the edge of the logo carrier overlaps with the logo area, the graphic logo should remove the border and the color of the logo carrier can be directly used as the symbol background color.
5.2 Color
5.2.1 The color of the graphic logo includes the border color, the graphic symbol color and the symbol background color. 5.2.2 If the graphic logo uses a border, the border color should be the same as the graphic symbol color. 5.2.3 If the color of a symbol element in the standard graphic symbol is other than black and white, the color of the symbol element should not be changed when designing the graphic logo. The colors of other symbol elements can be changed, but only the inversion between black and white is allowed (see Figure 3). 5.2.4 If the standard graphic symbol contains only black and white colors [such as the symbol in Figure 2a)], the color of the graphic symbol can be changed under the premise of complying with the following requirements:
a) Ensure that there is sufficient contrast between the color of the graphic symbol and the background color of the symbol; 2
Black and white are preferred as the colors of public information graphic symbols (see Figure 2) b)
The red and yellow specified in GB/T2893.1 should not be used; it is not advisable to change the symbol elements of the same color in the standard graphic symbol to different colors (see Figure 4); d)
GB/T20501.1—2006
When the color of the sign carrier is directly used as the background color of the symbol, it should also comply with the above requirements a) to c). Figure 3
