This standard is revised and adopted Codex Alimentarius Commission CODEX STAN 187--1993 "Codex Standard for Carambola" (English version). This standard is redrafted based on CODEX STAN 187-1993. Appendix A lists the comparison table of the chapter and article numbers of this standard and CODEX STAN 187--1993. Taking into account my country's national conditions, this standard has made some modifications when adopting CODEX STAN 187-1993. The relevant technical differences have been incorporated into the text and marked with a single vertical line in the margin of the clauses to which they refer. A list of these technical differences and their reasons is given in Appendix B for reference.
Appendix A and Appendix B in this standard are both informative appendices. This standard is proposed by the Agricultural Reclamation Bureau of the Ministry of Agriculture.
This standard is under the jurisdiction of the Technical Committee for Standardization of Tropical Crops and Products of the Ministry of Agriculture. The drafting unit of this standard is the Quality Supervision, Inspection and Testing Center of Tropical Agricultural Products of the Ministry of Agriculture. The main drafters of this standard are Peng Lixu, Feng Xinping, Li Shaopeng and Zhou Yonghua. 28.
1 Scope
This standard specifies the requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, labeling, packaging, transportation and storage of carambolas. NY/T488-2002
This standard applies to the quality assessment and trade of fresh carambolas after processing and packaging. It does not apply to carambolas for processing. 2 Normative references

The following terms and definitions apply to this standard. 3.1
Fruit shape
Has the shape and characteristics that the fruit of this variety should have, the main shapes are pentagonal ellipse and oval, and the cross section is five-pointed star-shaped. 285

4.1 Basic requirements
In addition to the special requirements and tolerances for each grade of carambola, the following requirements shall also be met: The fruit is complete:

-no obvious flaws;
-no damage caused by low temperature;

fully developed and reaching appropriate maturity. The development and condition of the carambola are suitable for transportation and handling, and are in good condition when they arrive at the destination. 4.2 Grade Requirements
Starfruits are divided into superior, first and second grade. 4.2.1 Superior
Superior starfruits must be of excellent quality and have the inherent characteristics of the variety. The fruit shape is good and has no blemishes. Very slight skin defects that do not affect the overall appearance, quality and storage of the product are allowed. 4.2.2 Superior

Second grade starfruits are inferior in quality to first grade starfruits, but meet the basic requirements specified in Section 4.1. 4.3 Size categories

4.4 Tolerance
Tolerance refers to the amount of product in each package that does not meet the requirements of the labeled grade and size. 4.4.1 Quality tolerance
4.4.1.1 Superior products
It is allowed that 5% of the weight of carambola does not meet the requirements of superior products, but it should meet the requirements of first-class products. 4.4.1.2 First-class products

10% of the carambolas by weight are permitted to fail to meet the requirements of the second grade and the requirements of 4.1, but the effects of decay and deterioration shall not render them unfit for consumption.
4.4.2 Size Tolerance
Allowed: 5% of the superior grade and 10% of the first or second grade to fail to meet the requirements. The size of the carambolas that fail to meet the requirements should be near the upper and lower limits shown for the size category.
4.5 Hygiene Indicators
BHC and DDT shall not be detected in fruits of all grades. Other hygiene indicators shall be implemented in accordance with the provisions of GB2762GB4810, GB5127, GB14869, GB.14870, GB14928.8 and GB14935.
5 Test method
5. 1 Sensory inspection
Odor shall be inspected by smell or taste, and surface defects and maturity shall be determined by visual inspection or measurement with measuring tools. 5.2 Size inspection
Weigh the weight of a single fruit.
5.3 Tolerance calculation
The base percentage of unqualified fruits detected shall be calculated according to formula (1) based on the fruit weight; if the number of fruits is marked on the package, the percentage shall be calculated based on the number of fruits. The result shall be accurate to one decimal place. M(%)

5.4 Hygiene inspection
Wash the sampled fruit, dry it and crush it to make the sample for testing. Follow the regulations of GB/T5009.11, GB/T5009.12, GB/T5009.17, GB/T 5009.19, GB/T 5009.38, GB 14878, GB/T 14929.3, GB/T 17331 and GB/T 17332. 6 Inspection rules
6.1 Grouping
Carambolas of the same variety, origin, grade, size and harvested in the same batch are considered as one inspection batch. 6.2 Sampling
Follow the regulations of GB/T8855.
6.3 Judgment rules
6.3.1 If one of the hygiene indicators fails to meet the standards, the batch of products shall be judged as unqualified products. 6.3.2 Products that meet the requirements of Chapter 4 after inspection shall be judged as qualified products of the corresponding grade and size category according to this standard. 6.4 Re-inspection
When the trading parties disagree with the inspection results, they may re-sample and re-inspect. The re-inspection shall be limited to one time and the re-inspection results shall prevail. 7 Marking and labeling
Marking shall be carried out in accordance with GB191, and labeling shall be carried out in accordance with GB7718. 8 Packaging, transportation and storage
8. 1 Uniformity
Each package shall be consistent, and the carambolas in the package shall be of the same origin, variety, quality and size. The color and maturity of high-quality carambolas are consistent. The visible part of the carambolas in the package shall represent the whole in the package. 8.2 Packaging requirements
The packaging of carambolas shall ensure that the product is not damaged. A small amount of leaves are allowed in the package for decorative purposes. New and clean packaging materials shall be used in the package, and the product shall be protected from internal and external damage. The materials used (especially trade instructions or imprints) must be printed with non-toxic ink and glued with non-toxic glue. Container requirements: The packaging container should meet the requirements of quality, hygiene, air permeability and pressure resistance, and ensure that it is suitable for the packaging, transportation and storage of carambolas. The packaging must not have foreign matter and odor.
8.3 Transportation and storage
8.3.1 Transportation
The means of transportation should be clean and hygienic, with sun-proof, rain-proof and wind-proof facilities. It must not be mixed with toxic, harmful or odorous items. 8.3.2 Storage
Carambolas must be stored in a clean, cool and ventilated warehouse with sun-proof and rain-proof facilities, and must not be stored with toxic or odorous items. 288
