National Standard of the People's Republic of China GB/T5351-1985 Fiber reinforced thermoplastic pipe short-time water pressure failure pressure test method National Bureau of Standards 1986-05-01 Page 1 sinoaec.com "Fiber reinforced thermoplastic pipe short-time water pressure failure pressure test method" Data number: 5351-1985 1 Sample 2 Sample Test conditions and equipment 3 Test steps 4 Calculation 5 Test results 6 Test report Additional notes: Page 2 inoaec.com 《Fiber-reinforced thermosetting plastic pipe short-term water pressure failure pressure test method》Data number: 5351-1985 This standard is applicable to the determination of the short-term failure pressure of fiber-reinforced thermosetting plastic pipe under the condition of continuous increase in internal water pressure. sinoaec.com Failure includes the following: a. Instantaneous or rapid pressure relief phenomenon; b. Observable water leakage from the pipe wall; c. Pressure reduction phenomenon that causes interruption of uniform continuous pressurization process. Note: ① Water leakage at the sealing part or sample damage in the sealing section is not considered as failure. ② The main failure modes of reinforced thermosetting plastic pipes are bursting (as described in a) and leakage (as described in b or c). Test Method for Short-term Water Pressure Failure of Fiber-reinforced Thermosetting Plastics 5351-1985 Page 3 1 Specimen 1.1 See Figure 1 (figure omitted) and Table 1 for specimen type and size. Nominal diameter ≤150 Length between two sealing sections L >5D (not less than 300) ≥3D (not less than 750) Length of sealing section 1 50~100 1.2 The number of specimens shall be in accordance with Chapter 2 of GB1446-83 "General Rules for Test Methods for Properties of Fiber-Reinforced Plastics". 1.3 The end face of the specimen shall be perpendicular to its axis and flat, without delamination or tearing. The rest of the surface is not damaged. If there are nodules or other protrusions on the surface of the sealing section, they should be smoothed, but try to avoid damaging the reinforcing fibers. Page 4 sinoaec.com 《Fiber-reinforced thermoplastic pipe short-term water pressure failure pressure test method》Data number: 5351-1985 2 Test conditions and equipment 2.1 The standard test environment is 23 ± 2℃. The sample can be placed in a constant temperature water tank or directly tested in the laboratory air environment. 2.2 The sample state should be placed in a constant temperature water tank with standard temperature conditions for at least 1 hour, or placed in the laboratory standard temperature conditions for at least 16 hours. 2.3 The water for pressurization should be kept clean and the water temperature should comply with the provisions of 2.1. If there are special requirements, the liquid medium or medium temperature for pressurization can be specified separately. 2.4 The pressurization equipment should have the ability to load the sample evenly and continuously. An electric pressure test pump or a nitrogen cylinder equipped with a pressure regulator and a hydraulic accumulator can be used to supply the pressure system. The selection of water flow must meet the time requirements specified in 3.7. 2.5 The relative error of the pressure gauge shall not exceed 1% of the full scale, and the failure pressure shall be around 60% of the full scale. 2.6 Safety protection facilities shall be equipped during the test. Safety inspections shall be carried out regularly on the pressure system. 2.7 The end sealing device shall have the ability to withstand the maximum test pressure, and the failure of the specimen caused by unreasonable design shall be avoided. The sealing form can be selected as free end sealing or constrained end sealing. Free end sealing is used for arbitration testing. Figure 2 (omitted) is a structural diagram of two sealing devices suitable for specimens with a nominal diameter not exceeding 100mm. Note: Under the action of internal pressure, the specimen with free end sealing generates axial tension in addition to circumferential and radial stresses: the specimen with constrained end sealing only generates circumferential and radial stresses. Page 5 Fiber-reinforced heat-resistant plastic pipe short-term water pressure failure pressure test method material code 5351-1985 3 Test steps 3.1 Process the sample and perform appearance inspection according to 1.3. 3.2 Adjust the state of the sample according to 2.2. 3.3 Number the qualified samples and measure the dimensions. The measurement accuracy shall be in accordance with GB1446-834.1. 3.3.1 At the positions of three different cross sections between the two sealing sections of the sample, measure the outer diameters in two directions perpendicular to each other, and take the average value as the average outer diameter. 3.3.2 Measure the wall thickness at eight equally spaced positions on any end face of the sample, discard the maximum and minimum values, and take the average value of the remaining points as the average wall thickness. For pipes with non-reinforced layers, the same method should be used to measure the thickness of the reinforced layer and calculate its average value. 3.4 Install the sealing device at both ends of the sample. When installing the card, be careful not to damage the sample. 3.5 Connect the installed sample sealing device to the pressurization system so that the sample is filled with water and the air is exhausted. 3.6 Support the sealing devices at both ends to keep the sample in a horizontal state. 3.7 Pressurize evenly and continuously until the sample fails. Unless otherwise specified, the pressurization time should be controlled at 60 to 70 seconds. Record the failure pressure (burst pressure or leakage pressure), pressurization time, failure mode and sample damage. If the failure pressure is not the maximum pressure, the maximum pressure should also be recorded. 3.8 If the sample is damaged in the sealing section or has obvious defects, it should be scrapped. If there are less than 5 valid samples in the same batch, the test should be repeated. When calculating the average value, the number of valid samples with the same failure form should also be no less than 5. Page 6 Fiber-reinforced heat-resistant plastic pipe Short-time water pressure failure pressure test method 5351-1985 4 Calculation Calculate the failure (or maximum) hoop stress of the specimen according to the following formula: (Dt)P Where: o The hoop stress or maximum hoop stress at the time of specimen failure, MPa (kgf/cm[2]: P—failure (or maximum) pressure, MPa (kgf/cm[2]; D—average outer diameter of the specimen, mm; t—average wall thickness of the specimen (for pipes with non-reinforced layers, it should be the average thickness of the reinforced layer), mm.
