This standard was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T1.1-2009. GB/T20484—2017
This standard replaces GB/T20484—2006 Grade of cold air. Compared with GB/T20484-2006, in addition to editorial changes, the main technical changes are:
- The definitions of all terms have been modified (see Chapter 2, Chapter 2 of the 2006 edition);- The "moderate cold air" and "strong cold air" in the five cold air levels have been merged into one level of "strong cold air" (see Table 1, Chapter 3 of the 2006 edition).
This standard is proposed by the China Meteorological Administration.

Cold air, especially strong cold air and cold wave, is one of the major disastrous weather in my country, with the characteristics of wide impact range, long duration and serious disasters. The frequent occurrence of cold air will not only cause huge losses to the national economy, especially agriculture and animal husbandry, but also cause serious impact and harm to the environment and people's lives and health. In order to unify and standardize the classification standards of cold air in my country and make the monitoring, forecasting, early warning, assessment, research and prevention of cold air more standardized, this standard is formulated. 1 Scope
Cold air level
This standard specifies the cold air level and the level classification method. This standard applies to the monitoring, forecasting, early warning, assessment and scientific research of cold air. 2 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document. 2.1

an air mass that lowers the temperature of the places it passes through. 2.2
dailyminimumtemperaturedailyminimumtemperaturethe lowest temperature between 14:00 on the previous day and 14:00 on the current day. 2.3
decrease of daily minimum temperature in 24 hoursthe difference between the daily minimum temperature within 24 hours after 14:00 on a certain day and the daily minimum temperature on that day. 2.4
decrease of dailyminimumtemperature in48hoursthe difference between the lowest daily minimum temperature within 48 hours after 14:00 on a certain day and the daily minimum temperature on that day. 2.5
decrease of daily minimum temperature in 72 hoursthe difference between the lowest daily minimum temperature within 72 hours after 14:00 on a certain day and the daily minimum temperature on that day. 3 Classification

The cold air is divided into four levels: weak cold air, relatively strong cold air, strong cold air and cold wave, based on the two indicators of the drop in the daily minimum temperature and the daily minimum temperature value in a certain area affected by the cold air within a certain period of time. The temperature drops by more than or equal to 6℃ but less than 8℃ within 48 hours: or the temperature drops by more than or equal to 8℃ within 48 hours, but fails to make the local daily minimum temperature drop to 8℃ or belowThe temperature drops by more than or equal to 8℃ within 48 hours, and makes the local daily minimum temperature drop to 8C or belowThe temperature drops by more than or equal to 8℃ within 24 hours, or the temperature drops by more than or equal to 10℃ within 48 hours, or the temperature drops by more than or equal to 12℃ within 72 hours, and makes the local daily minimum temperature drop to 4C or below.
