According to the requirements of the State Planning Commission's Document No. Jizong [1984] 305, the "Lighting Design Standard for Civil Buildings" jointly formulated by the China Academy of Building Research and relevant units has been reviewed by relevant departments. The "Lighting Design Standard for Civil Buildings" GBJ133-90 is now approved as a national standard and will be implemented on March 1, 1991. The Ministry of Construction is responsible for the management of this standard. The China Academy of Building Research is responsible for specific interpretation and other work. Preparation Instructions
This standard is compiled by the China Academy of Building Research in accordance with the requirements of the State Planning Commission [1984] Jizong No. 305, and is jointly compiled with relevant design, scientific research and colleges and universities.
During the preparation of this standard, the preparation team conducted extensive investigations and studies, carefully summarized the practical experience of civil building lighting design in my country, referred to relevant international standards and foreign advanced standards, carried out scientific research and experimental verification work on major technical issues, and widely solicited opinions from relevant units across the country. Finally, the Ministry of Construction reviewed and finalized the draft together with relevant departments.
Since this standard is compiled for the first time, during the implementation process, we hope that all units will combine engineering practice and scientific research, carefully summarize experience, and pay attention to accumulating information. Chapter 1 General
Article 1.0.1 This standard is formulated to make the lighting design of civil buildings meet the requirements of building functions and protecting people's eyesight health, and to achieve energy conservation, advanced technology, economic rationality, safe use and convenient maintenance. Article 1.0.2 This standard applies to the lighting design of newly built, rebuilt and expanded public buildings and residences.

Illumination Standard
Section I
General Provisions
Article 2.1.1 The standard value of illumination for civil building lighting shall be classified according to the following series: 0.5, 1, 2, 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 50, 75, 100, 150, 200, 300, 500, 750, 1000, 1500 and 20001x. Article 2.1.2 The standard value of illumination refers to the average illumination value on the reference plane of the work or living place.
Article 2.1.3 The illumination standard value is set at three values: high, medium and low according to the different activities or operation categories of various buildings. Designers should select the appropriate standard value according to the building grade, functional requirements and usage conditions. Generally, the middle value should be selected. Article 2.1.4 When designing lighting, the degree of illumination reduction caused by the attenuation of the light source, dust accumulation of lamps and pollution on the surface of the room should be divided by the maintenance factor in Table 2.1.4.
