Introduction to standards:

This standard specifies the thermal cycle test method and test equipment for electroplated layers on plastic substrates. This standard is applicable to the evaluation of the resistance of electroplated layers on plastics to temperature changes, and the test results indicate the bonding strength between the electroplated layer and the substrate of the electroplated part. 8.6 and 10.4 Thermal This standard specifies the thermal cycling test method and test equipment for the electroplated layer on the plastic substrate. This standard is applicable to the evaluation of the temperature change resistance of the electroplated layer on the plastic, and the test results indicate the bonding strength between the coating and the substrate of the electroplated part.
2 Principle of the method
Due to the different thermal expansion coefficients of the plastic substrate and the metal coating, a stress will be generated on the interface between them when the temperature changes. When the temperature changes repeatedly between high and low, the total stress at the interface will increase significantly: when the local stress exceeds the bonding strength of the plastic and metal layers, blistering, wrinkling, cracking or shedding will occur. This standard adopts a high-temperature cycle test procedure to observe the defects on the surface of the plated parts after the test to evaluate the bonding ability of the electroplating layer and the plastic body. 3 Test equipment
3.1 Electric heating oven-temperature control range greater than 75°C. Temperature accuracy ±2°C. 3.2 Low temperature oven temperature range is less than -10°C, temperature control accuracy +2°C. 4 Specimens
4.1 After electroplating, the specimens are placed at a temperature for 24 hours before testing. 4.2 The number of specimens for each test should generally not be less than 3. The specimen should be a complete molded part. It is not allowed to cut a part from a large plated part for testing: large parts can be replaced by small parts made of the same material as the large parts and then electroplated under the same conditions for testing. 4.3 The specimen should be fully cleaned before testing. Solvents and abrasives that will corrode the specimen should not be used during milling. 4.4 The test piece should be placed in the test box and should not be connected to the box body or to each other. 5 Tests
5.1 Thermal cycle test conditions
A cycle: upper limit temperature 75±2°C, lower limit temperature 20±5°C; B cycle: upper limit temperature 75+2°C, lower limit temperature -20±2°C; C cycle: upper limit temperature 752°C, lower limit temperature -402°C. 5.2 Test procedures for each cycle of various cycles 5.2.1A Cycle
