Introduction to standards:

This standard applies to the safety of electronic air purifiers for household and similar purposes. The rated voltage of single-phase air purifiers shall not exceed 250V; the rated voltage of other air purifiers shall not exceed 480V. Non-household air purifiers, as long as they may be dangerous to the public, such as air purifiers used by non-professionals in shops, light industry and farms, are also included in the scope of this standard. As far as practicality is concerned, this standard considers air purifiers that are dangerous to the public in the home and within the reach of all people. This standard generally does not consider: - The use of the appliance by unattended children and the infirm; - Children using the appliance as a toy. IEC Foreword
1) IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) is an international standardization organization composed of all national electrotechnical committees (IEC National Committees). Its main purpose is to promote international cooperation on standardization issues in the electrical and electronic fields. To this end, EC carries out international standardization activities and publishes international standards. The formulation of these standards is entrusted to technical committees. Any IEC National Committee interested in the technical issue can participate in the formulation work. International, governmental and non-governmental organizations associated with EC can also participate in this work. IEC and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) work closely on the basis of agreements between the two organizations. 2) Formal resolutions or agreements of IEC on technical issues formulated by technical committees in which all national committees with special interest in the issue participate, represent as far as possible the international consensus on the issues involved. 3) These formal resolutions or agreements are published in the form of standards, technical reports or guidelines, and are adopted by the national committees in this sense.
4) In order to achieve international consensus, IEC National Committees The committee also uses IEC international standards to the greatest extent possible in its national and regional standards. Differences between IEC standards and corresponding national or regional standards should be clearly marked in the latter. 5) IEC has not established a procedure for the approval mark. IEC is not responsible for any claim that a device complies with an IEC standard.
This standard was prepared by IEC Technical Committee 61 (Safety of Household and Similar Electrical Appliances). This standard constitutes the first edition of IEC60335-2-65. This standard is based on the following documents:|| tt||61(CO)758

This standard applies to the safety of electronic air purifiers for household and similar purposes. The rated voltage of single-phase air purifiers is not more than 250V; the rated voltage of other air purifiers is not more than 480V. Note 1: This standard also applies to electrostatic air filters included in other appliances. Non-household air purifiers, as long as they may be dangerous to the public, such as air purifiers used by non-professionals in shops, light industry and farms, are also included in the scope of this standard. Note 2: Such appliances are, for example, commercial air purifiers. In practical terms, this standard considers air purifiers that are dangerous to the public and are accessible to all people in the home. This standard does not usually consider the use of the appliance by unsupervised children and the infirm; children use the appliance as a toy.
3 The following facts should be noted:
- Air purifiers used in vehicles, ships and aircraft may have additional requirements if necessary; - Air purifiers used in tropical areas may have additional requirements if necessary; - In many countries, health departments, labor protection departments or similar departments have additional requirements. 4 This standard does not apply to:
Industrial air purifiers:
-- Air purifiers for special environments, for example, environments with corrosive or explosive gases (dust, steam or gas) - Air purification systems contained in building structures. 2 Definitions

Compliance is checked by the test of 16.101: 16.101 Apply a voltage for 1 min between: - the primary and secondary windings of a high-voltage transformer! - a secondary circuit and accessible parts, after any component earth connection is disconnected. Circuits other than the DC circuits are supplied with a DC voltage. The voltage is the maximum working voltage multiplied by 2 plus 750 V. The minimum is 1250 V. The maximum working voltage for a mixed AC and DC type is equal to the peak value of the mixed voltage multiplied by 0.707. After the test, no flashover or breakdown shall occur. NOTE The voltage in the secondary circuit is measured with an instrument having a minimum impedance of 30 MΩ. 16.102 The high-voltage transformer shall have adequate internal insulation. Compliance is checked by the following test 1
Apply a sinusoidal voltage to the primary terminals of the transformer so as to produce twice the working voltage in the secondary winding of the transformer. The frequency of the applied voltage is increased to be greater than the rated frequency. This is to avoid excessive excitation current during the test. The duration of the test is:
--the frequency is increased to twice the rated frequency within 60 seconds. -120×(rated frequency/test frequency)9, at least 15 seconds, so that the frequency is increased to more than twice the rated frequency. In each case, 1/3 of the maximum test voltage is applied initially, and then it should be rapidly increased to the test voltage. At the end of the test, the voltage should be rapidly reduced to less than 1/3 of the test voltage before the switch is disconnected. No flashover or breakdown should occur between windings or between adjacent turns of the same winding. 17 Overload protection of transformers and related circuits This chapter in GB4706.1-1998 is applicable. 18 Durability
