GB/T5476-1996 This standard replaces GB5476-85 Ion exchange resin pretreatment method. During this revision, the acid and alkali treatment of the sample in 3.3 of the original standard and the preparation of the reference sample in 3.5 were combined into the preparation of the sample in 5.3 of this standard, increasing the amount of reagents used in a single pretreatment operation, simplifying the operation steps and shortening the operation time. This standard was proposed by the Ministry of Chemical Industry of the People's Republic of China. This standard is under the jurisdiction of the Plastic Resin Products Branch of the National Technical Committee for Plastic Standardization (TC15/SC4). The drafting unit of this standard: Shanghai Resin Factory. The main drafters of this standard: Zhuang Yinzu, Yu Die, Zhang Wenyan. 969 1 Scope National Standard of the People's Republic of China Methods for pretreating ion exchange resins Methods for pretreating ion exchange resins This standard specifies the pretreatment methods for ion exchange resins. GB/T 5475-85 Sampling method for ion exchange resins GB/T12598-90 Determination of ball rate and ball rate after grinding of ion exchange resins 3 Summary of methods Before testing the various properties of ion exchange resins, the resins are backwashed with water to remove mechanical impurities, and then the soluble matter is removed by the specified acid and alkali solutions, and the resins are converted into samples with the following ion forms: - Sodium form for strongly acidic cation exchange resins. - Hydrogen form for weakly acidic cation exchange resins. - Chloride form for strongly basic anion exchange resins. - Free amine form for weakly basic anion exchange resins. 4 Reagents and solutions 4.1 Hydrochloric acid solution: c(HCl)=1mol/L, measure 90mL of hydrochloric acid, dilute to 1000mL, and shake well. 4.2 Sodium hydroxide standard solution: c(NaOH)-1mol/L, weigh 100g of sodium hydroxide, dissolve in 100mL of water, shake well, pour into a polyethylene container, seal and place until the solution is clear. Siphon 52mL of the upper clear liquid with a plastic tube, pour into 1000mL of carbon dioxide-free water, and shake. 4.3 Methyl orange indicator solution: 1g/L, weigh 0.1g of methyl orange, dissolve in 70℃ water, cool and dilute to 100mL. 4.4 Phenolphthalein indicator solution: 10g/L, weigh 1.0g of phenolphthalein, dissolve in ethanol, and dilute to 100mL. 4.5 Pure water: conductivity (25℃) is not more than 5.0μS/cm. 5 Apparatus and loading 5.1 Exchange column: glass exchange column, inner diameter 35mm, height 400mm, with No. 1 or No. 2 microporous sand core (see Figure 1), or organic glass exchange column, see Figure 1 in GB/T12598. Approved by the State Administration of Technical Supervision on October 25, 1996 970 Implementation on May 1, 1997 Sand core plate Figure 1 Glass exchange column 5.2 Pretreatment device See Figure 2. 5.3 Separating funnel: capacity 250mL~500mL. 5.4 Wide-mouth bottle: capacity 125mL~250mL. 6 Operation steps 6.1 Sampling GB/T5476-1996 1 Separating funnel; 2—Rubber stopper, 3—Glass exchange column (with sand core plate) Figure 2 Pretreatment device Sampling is carried out according to the method specified in GB/T5475. 6.2 Backwashing Measure about 25~50mL of resin, place it in the exchange column, and backwash it with pure water. The development rate of the resin is 50%~~100%, until there is no visible mechanical impurity in the sample and the effluent is clear. 6.3 Preparation of samples 6.3.1 In the pretreatment device (see Figure 2), make the liquid level about 10mm higher than the resin layer to ensure that there are no bubbles in the resin layer. According to the type of resin, the reagent volume and flow rate required for the first step of the operation specified in Table 1 pass through the resin layer until the liquid level is 10 mm higher than the surface of the resin layer. Then use pure water to wash according to the water washing flow rate and time specified in Table 1. 6.3.2 Pass the resin layer according to the reagent volume and flow rate required for the second step operation specified in Table 1 until the liquid level is 10 mm above the surface of the resin layer. Finally, wash with pure water at the flow rate specified in Table 1 until the effluent is tested with the specified indicator and shows the color specified in the table.
