Introduction to standards:

This standard specifies the sampling method, sampling quantity, inspection method, cutting method, etc. for measuring the length of cotton by hand-pulling ruler. This standard is applicable to the length inspection of seed cotton purchased and the length inspection of baled cotton batch samples. GB1103—1999 Cotton
Fine staple cotton" stipulates that the hand-pulling and measuring staple method is used for cotton length testing. This standard is specially formulated for this purpose. This standard is proposed and managed by China Fiber Inspection Bureau. The main drafting unit of this standard is Jiangsu Fiber Inspection Institute. The main drafters of this standard are Zhu Hongshan, Sun Junhua and Chen Xiaoyan. 1 Test method for cotton length Pulling staple length method GB/T 19617—2004 This standard specifies the sampling method, sampling quantity, inspection method, cutting method, etc. for measuring cotton length by pulling staple. This standard applies to the length inspection of purchased cotton and the length inspection of hulled cotton batch samples. 2 Terms and definitions The following terms and definitions apply to this standard. 2.1 Pulling staple length The length of cotton fiber measured by the method of drawing a staple, in millimeters: its length is close to the main body length 3 Principle A certain amount of representative fibers are extracted and sorted into a cotton bundle that meets the requirements. The distance between the two tangent lines of the cotton bundle is directly measured with a fiber-specific ruler to obtain the length of the cotton fiber with the largest number of roots. Test tools
Flannel board;
Special fiber ruler (division value is 0.5mm). 5 SamplingbZxz.net
5. 1 For each sample of purchased seed cotton, check it one by one. For each sample, randomly select 2 to 3 representative samples, each sample is about 10g. For the batch sample of baled cotton, randomly select a representative sample of about 10g for each sample. 5.2 Slightly arrange the sample to make the fiber smooth. Hold the two ends of the sample with both hands respectively, and use two fists parallel to each other or two fists palm to palm to separate the sample. After separating the hands, put the sample together, hold the sample with one hand, and use the thumb and index finger of the other hand to remove the strands, debris and free fibers that are not controlled by the sample. 5.3 Align the side surface of the first section of the index finger parallel to the plane of the first section of the thumb, pick up the fibers protruding from the cross-section of the held sample, and slowly extract them in sequence, removing tight threads, impurities, etc. while extracting, and evenly overlap the extracted fibers between the thumb and index finger until they become a quantitative cotton bundle.
6 Methods and steps
6.1-Tidying method
6.1.1 Arranging cotton bundles
Use thumb and index finger to arrange the cotton bundles formed after sampling. Eliminate free fibers, filaments, impurities, etc. in the cotton bundles. Gently twist the loose bundles and apply a little pressure to reduce the area of the cotton bundles to achieve a preliminary straight and neat state. 6.1.2 Pulling out cotton bundles
Use your hand to straighten the cotton bundles. Align the first section of the thumb and index finger parallel to each other. Pull out the front end of the fiber protruding from the cotton bundle. Pull out a thin layer each time and remove the cotton knots, debris, etc. in the fibers at any time to form a flat cotton bundle. Repeat the pulling out 1~2 times to make it a straight cotton bundle with no filaments, debris and free fibers. The cotton bundle has a mass of about 60mg and a width of about 20mm. GB/T19617—2004
6.2 Two-end tidying method
6.2.1 Arrange the cotton bundle
Use the thumb and index finger to arrange the cotton bundle formed after taking the bundle, slightly press the cotton bundle, remove free fibers, ropes, impurities, etc., and remove the overlong fibers, so that the exposed ends of the cotton bundle are flat and neat. 6.2.2 Pull out the cotton bundle
Press the tidied cotton bundle with your hand, align the thumb of the other hand with the first section of the index finger in parallel, and pull out the front end of the red fiber extending from the cotton bundle. Pull out a thin layer each time, stack them layer by layer, and remove the knots and debris in the fibers at any time, arrange and remove the overlong fibers, and form a cotton bundle with flat ends. Repeat the pulling twice, and finally form a straight cotton bundle with neat ends (the quality and width of the cotton bundle require the same end tidying method). 6.3 Cutting and measuring cotton bundles
Put the cotton bundles on the velvet board, and use the fiber-specific ruler blade to align the two ends of the cotton bundle with tangent lines. The two lines are parallel and perpendicular to the cotton bundle. The tangent line position is to avoid exposing the background color of the velvet board. Measure the distance between the two tangent lines, which is the hand-pulled length of the cotton bundle. Record the results in millimeters and keep one decimal place.
6.4 Calibration
When testing the length by hand-pulling ruler, the national length standard cotton (GSR11-1329) should be used to calibrate the test results. 7 Result calculation
7.1 Seed cotton purchase inspection
When testing the seed cotton purchase, two samples are tested for each sample in the test mill. If the difference between the results of the two samples is less than or equal to 0.5mm, the average value of the two samples is used as the test result of the sample; if the difference between the results of the two samples is greater than 0.5mm, add one sample and take the average value of the three samples as the test result of the sample. 7.2 Inspection of bales of cotton
Inspect one test specimen for each sample of the batch. Calculate the arithmetic average length of the whole batch of cotton and the percentage of each length grade according to the length inspection results of each cotton sample, and keep one decimal place. The length grade corresponding to the length average is determined as the length grade of the batch of cotton.
