Some standard content:

2. Editing of retrieval journals
GB3468--83 "General Rules for Editing Retrieval Journals" Explanation 1. Purpose and scope of application of this standard

This standard applies to retrieval journals compiled and published in China. 2. Basis for the formulation of this standard
This standard is mainly formulated with reference to GB3179 "Format of Scientific and Technological Journals" and well-known foreign retrieval journals. Such as: the United States' "Government Reports and Indexes" (GRAI), "Chemical Abstracts" (GA), "Engineering Index (Abstracts)" (EL), "Metal Abstracts" (MA), "Medical Index" (MI), "Biological Abstracts" (BA), "Agricultural Catalog" (BA), the United Kingdom's "Science Abstracts" (SA), "Agricultural Abstracts" (CAB), the Soviet Union's "Abstract Magazine" (P Water), France's "Abstract Bulletin" (BS), Japan's "Science and Technology Literature Express" and other documents and their reference documents. The main references are the volume settings (including volume classification tables) and cover design of large-scale comprehensive retrieval journal systems organized by the state abroad. The journal name, introduction style, table of contents page, bibliographic items, order, symbols and format, cited literature sources, index types and their recording formats, classification and subject indexing, etc. The cover, title page, table of contents page, copyright page and journal layout format are mainly based on GB3179. 3 Historical overview of the formulation of this standard
Around 1979, China was studying and building China's scientific and technological literature retrieval journal system and how to specifically edit a retrieval journal. Under this situation, this standard was formulated from 1979 to 1983 with reference to GB3179 "Science and Technology Journal Layout Format" and foreign advanced retrieval journal systems. It laid a good foundation for my country's retrieval journal system and the establishment of a computer retrieval network. Since the standard was formulated earlier and there are areas that need improvement during use, it is recommended to revise this standard. 4 Main contents of this standard
The main contents of this standard are 12 chapters and 1 appendix. Chapter 1 Introduction is the purpose and scope of application of the standard. Chapter 2 Nouns and terms include literature, literature entries, indexes, and retrieval journals. Chapter 3 The journal name should be carefully named and a brand should be created. Chapter 4 The cover should have the journal name and the Chinese pinyin of the journal name. For international communication, it should have a foreign journal name; start and end sequence numbers; year, volume, and issue of this issue; publishing unit; journal number (ISSN, CN); and the logo of this journal. Chapter 5 Spine
Chapter 6 Volumes should consider compiling a volume classification table or a professional classification table to balance the amount of literature reported in each profession and reader retrieval. Chapter 7 Format
Chapter 8 Copyright items are required to be complete to facilitate journal recording. Chapter 9 Composition includes instructions, table of contents, text, index, and literature sources. Chapter 10 The description of literature entries can be found in GB3793 "Rules for the Description of Retrieval Journal Entries". Chapter 11 Document indexing recommends the use of "Chinese Library and Information Classification" and "Chinese Thesaurus" for indexing. Chapter 12 Index and its recording items include subject index, classification index, author index, institution index, number index, special index, etc.
The appendix includes 11 standard catalogs for reference. 5 Precautions for using this standard
5.7 The selection of document sources is very important. First, it plays the role of "announcement to the people" and enhances credibility. Attention should be paid to the selection of core documents, especially core journals.
5.2 The work of compiling the classification table of the national retrieval journal system or the professional classification table is very important. It provides convenience for readers to retrieve documents from the perspective of classification, and also facilitates the division of labor among various professional departments or volumes. 5.3 Pay attention to the name of the unified retrieval journal, the color, text, font and overall arrangement order of the cover. 5.4 The document entries of each volume should preferably report domestic and foreign documents in a professional volume in the form of mixed title and abstract. 5.5 Pay attention to the concise and concise preparation of user instructions and application examples. 5.6 The items, sequence, symbols and format of the contribution entries. See GB3793 "Rules for the Recording of Retrieval Periodical Entries". 5.7 Index. For subject search numbers, the best format is "subject term, document title and sequence number" and "scholar's title, description term, etc. and sequence number"; for classification index, the best format is "classification number, document title and sequence number"; for author index, the best format is "author, title and sequence number", but the majority of formats are "author, sequence number"; the situation of institution index is the same as that of author, and the number index is mostly "document number, sequence number", and the best format is "document number, title and sequence number"; the special index is determined by each professional volume according to the characteristics of each profession, such as: ship name index, place name index, animal and plant name index, molecular formula index, etc.
5.8 Pay attention to the compilation of volume arrangement tables, classifications, subject word tables, document source tables, code tables, instructions for use, and recording for retrieving journals. Rules, etc.
5.9 Pay attention to comprehensive considerations, do not easily "renovate", and pay attention to creating a "famous brand" to let those engaged in scientific research and production! If readers want to find references, the first thing they think of is to search journals. 6 Application Examples
my country's retrieval journal system "is mainly based on subject majors, supplemented by document types" to set up volumes. After years of hard work, it has begun to take shape and has gradually established a certain prestige among readers. Develop in the direction of "complete, fast, and convenient" and "combination of journals and libraries." According to domestic and foreign experience and readers' needs, it is appropriate to use abstracts or citations, abstracts, and mixed reports on documents from various countries and languages in one professional volume. However, due to various reasons such as insufficient funds, "separate stoves", difficulty in unifying standards, and the degree of attention from leaders, each The development of sub-volumes is not very balanced, and the quality varies. At present, China's retrieval journal system roughly has several series of names, including "China Abstracts", "Foreign Abstracts", "…Abstracts", "Chinese Science and Technology Information Catalog", "Foreign Science and Technology Information Daily Record", and "Literature Bulletin". The distinction is due to the different types of literature reported and the different levels of detail of the literature entries. Further efforts should be made in the unification and standardization. 7 Related standards
