This standard is equivalent to ISO1176:1990 "Road Vehicle Quality - Vocabulary and Code". After the adoption of ISO1176:1990, my country's road vehicle quality terminology is in line with international standards. In particular, after the introduction of quality codes, each quality term has a clear definition and code, which is convenient for management and scientific and technological exchanges. After the release and implementation of this standard, it will replace GB3730.2-92 "Terms and Definitions Vehicle Quality of Motor Vehicles and Trailers". This standard is in accordance with ISO1176:1990, and restores the terms related to axle load and the term "maximum static load of the semi-trailer on the tractor", adds the term "maximum allowable static load on the hitch, and cancels the terms "specific power" and "specific torque". This standard is proposed by the Ministry of Machinery Industry of the People's Republic of China. This standard is under the jurisdiction of the National Technical Committee for Automobile Standardization. The drafting unit of this standard is China Automotive Technology Research Center. The main organizer of this standard is Jiang Biqi.

This standard specifies the terms and codes for the mass of road vehicles (excluding first-time manufactured road vehicles) defined in ISO3833. Road vehicles may be complete vehicles or not. The codes are used for vehicle data exchange and electronic processing. This standard does not include the following vehicles:
Vehicles specially designed for passenger and/or freight transport, motorcycles and mopeds covered by ISO6726; - caravans covered by ISO7237.

3.1 These definitions facilitate the effective comparison of masses under the same loading conditions; they are provided in view of their practical value to administrative authorities, manufacturers and users. 3.2 "Load" means the force transmitted by a vehicle or a defined part of a vehicle to a horizontal contact surface when at rest. "Mass" means the quantity inherent in the vehicle or its parts which produces the phenomena of gravity and inertia, that is, the quantity which represents the resistance to acceleration. "Mass" and "load" are measured when the vehicle is at rest and the wheels on the ground are in the straight forward direction. 3.3 In some definitions, some elements are marked with an asterisk (*). The mass of elements marked with an asterisk (*) does not need to be included in the defined mass. On the contrary, some elements that are not included, such as the fifth wheel (saddle), additional anti-skid devices, etc., can be included in the mass. In the above two cases, when the manufacturer gives the vehicle mass defined in the corresponding terms, it should indicate the words "ISO-M." and then list the various elements that are not included or added. If the mass of the driver is included, it should be stated. 3.4 The mass distributed on each axle (or each tire) should be increased by the code number of the corresponding axle, and the code for the front axle is 1. For example:

4.1 Bare chassis dry mass The bare chassis dry mass includes only the mechanical mass of the parts and components that are essential for the vehicle to run as specified by the manufacturer. Therefore, for a bare chassis of a motor vehicle, if fuel, lubricants and coolant (if necessary) are added, the vehicle can run on its own mechanics. The following parts or elements are optional by the manufacturer: engine hood or cover, wheel covers, trailer towing device, auxiliary transmission, power take-off device (PTO), retarder (except on the engine), coolant in closed cooling circuit, spare wheel (one or more), mechanical or hydraulic lifting device. Parts required by road traffic regulations, such as: lights and signal devices, horns, etc. These optional parts or elements should be marked if they are installed on a dry clean chassis. For vehicles connected to trailers or semi-trailers, there is a large vertical load on the connection device or saddle.
