1 Main content and scope of application
This standard specifies the basic forms and sizes of weld grooves for submerged arc welding. This standard is applicable to submerged arc welding joints of carbon steel and low alloy steel. 2 Reference standards
GB324 Symbolic representation of welds on drawings The basic forms and sizes of weld grooves for submerged arc welding shall comply with the provisions of Table 1. 4 The symbols for the weld chain in the drawings shall comply with the provisions of GB324 standard. 5 In order to obtain full penetration welds, sufficient weld root cleaning is allowed UDC 621.191.76

6 Basic forms and sizes of grooves for butt welds of steel plates of different thicknesses For important load-bearing joints of butt welds of steel plates of different thicknesses, if the difference in thickness between the two plates (8-1) meets the requirements of Table 2, the groove size is selected according to the thickness of the thick plate, otherwise, the thick steel plate shall be thinned according to the provisions of Figure 1. Single-sided thinning of thick plates shall be in accordance with the provisions of Figure 1 (a), and double-sided thinning shall be in accordance with the provisions of Figure 1 (b), and the thinning length L≥3 (-).
