GB/T20543-2006/ISO13616:2003 This standard is equivalent to the international standard ISO13616:2003 "Banking and related financial services". For ease of use, this standard has made the following editorial changes: the term "this international standard" is changed to "this standard"; a
b) the foreword of the international standard is deleted.
Appendix A and Appendix B of this standard are normative appendices, and Appendix C is an informative appendix. This standard is proposed by the People's Bank of China.
This standard is managed by the National Financial Standardization Technical Committee. The responsible drafting unit of this standard is China Financial Electronicization Company. The participating drafting units of this standard are Bank of China and China Construction Bank. International Bank Account Number (English version).
The main drafters of this standard are Tan Guoan, Yang Zi, Lu Shuchun, Li Shuguang, Zhao Zhilan, Zhang Yan, Liu Yun, Ma Teng, Li Shijing and Shi Lingyun. This standard is formulated for the first time.
GB/T 20543--2006/1SO 13616: 2003 Introduction
The application of electronic communication media and international services continue to show a significant growth trend, and the scope of services includes cross-border information transmission, fund payment and payment-related transactions between financial institutions and between financial institutions and their customers. This standard is formulated to promote the automation of business processing in this environment. This standard and industry-wide electronic data interchange (EDI) technology enable financial institutions to communicate with their customers information about their account identities in a machine-readable format. This standard also specifies provisions for verifying the information provided. It is impractical to adopt a single universal method in the standard to identify the accounts of financial institutions' customers and the business relationship between banks. Whenever possible, financial institutions prefer to retain existing identification methods in their own countries. In view of this, this standard proposes an identification method that requires minimal changes to existing systems and a way to organize information to facilitate automated processing of information. In terms of electronic data interchange, the application of this standard will result in: a) reducing the need for human intervention in processing data exchanges within and between industries; b) improving the accuracy of the information provided; and c) ensuring that the information provided is relevant to the country of the account owner. IBAN can be applied in a paper environment. While using IBAN to describe financial institutions, technical standards other than IBAN may be used if it is necessary to further qualify the financial institution. The calculation and verification of the check digit are detailed in Appendix B. V
1 Scope
GB/T20543--2006/ISO 13616:2003 Banking and related financial services
International bank account number (IBAN)
This standard specifies the elements of the International Bank Account Number (IBAN) to facilitate data processing when exchanging data across borders in the financial sector and other industries.
IBAN is designed for automated processing. Where appropriate, it can also be easily applied to information exchange based on other media (such as paper documents). This standard does not specify the internal processes, file organization techniques, storage media, text, etc. involved in the implementation of this standard. It is not used to promote information processing processes within the network, but only to transmit text data between systems (networks). 2 Normative references
The provisions of the following documents become the provisions of this standard through reference in this standard. For any dated referenced document, all subsequent amendments (excluding errata) or revisions are not applicable to this standard. However, parties to an agreement based on this standard are encouraged to study whether the latest versions of these documents can be used. The following terms and definitions apply to this standard. 3.1
Basic Bank Account Number (BBAN) An identifier used by financial institutions in different countries to uniquely identify their customer accounts. Generally, the basic bank account number is a component of the relevant national account coding scheme. 3.2
International bank account number (IBAN)
An extended version of the basic bank account number, used to uniquely identify the account number of a financial institution's customer internationally. 4 Conventions
This standard adopts the following conventions for the representation of data elements (according to ISO8908:1993, 3.2). Description of data element sub-elements:

5 Structure
The format of the IBAN (in electronic documents) is as follows: 2a2n30an
In paper documents, the format of the IBAN is given in Appendix A. In electronic documents, there should be no spaces between the components of the IBAN. The structure of the IBAN is as follows:
The first two characters (2a)
and the country code, in accordance with the specifications of ISO 3166 (alpha version), representing the country where the bank branch applying the IBAN is resident
The third and fourth characters are check digits
derived according to the algorithm specified in this standard (see Chapter 6). For electronic transmission of the IBAN, the

A1 Introduction Appendix A (Normative Appendix) Application of IBAN in paper documents This appendix specifies the application and representation of IBAN in paper documents. A.2 Scope GB/T 20543---2006/ISO 13616:2003 In paper documents that require account number specifications, IBAN should be used in accordance with the provisions of this appendix. In paper documents that generate payment (or payment box) instructions, IBAN is mandatory. In addition, according to actual circumstances, it may also contain other identifiers of the financial institution represented by the IBAN. This identifier is not the implicit financial institution identifier in IBA (such as the identifier of the financial institution represented by GB/T 16711), but is an identifier determined according to another identification scheme. This annex does not specify online health documents!

(Normative Appendix)
Calculation and verification of check digit
B.1 Method of constructing IBAN through BBAN and calculation of check digit B.1.1 Delete all spaces and non-alphanumeric characters to re-arrange BBAN. Example: BBAN 539-0075470-34
becomes 539007547034
B.1.2 Add the country code (such as 2a, see ISO3166) to the far right of the above numbers, and then add the number "00". Example: The number becomes 539007547034BE00B.1.3 According to 6.2.3, convert all alphabetic characters into numeric characters. Example: The number becomes 539007547034111400B.1.4 Perform modulo 97 calculation (i.e. the remainder after division by 97) Example: The remainder after 539007547034111400 is divided by 97 is 30B.1.5 Subtract the remainder from 98. If the result is less than 10, add 0 to the front of the number. Example: 98 minus 30 equals 68, so the IBAN is: Electronic format: BE68539007547034
Paper format: BE68539007547034
B.2 Verify the IBAN check code
The following is the verification code of the IBAN Method for checking the code. Take the IBAN number BE68539007547034 as an example. B.2.1 Move the first 4 characters of the IBAN to the far right. Example: becomes 539007547034BE68
B.2.2 According to 6.2.3, convert the alphabetic characters into numeric characters. Example: becomes 539007547034111468B.2.3 Perform modulo 97 operation (i.e. the remainder after division by 97) Example: The remainder after division by 97 of 539007547034111468 is 1. B.2.4 If the remainder is 1, it means that the check code of the IBAN is correct. 4
