This standard defines the common terms related to die casting dies. This standard applies to the understanding and use of common terms for die casting dies. 2 General terms
Die casting

A casting method in which molten alloy is filled into the mold cavity under high pressure and high speed conditions and cooled and solidified under high pressure. 2.2
Die-casting die
The mold used to form castings in the die casting molding process. 2.3
Fixed die
The part of the mold fixed to the fixed die mounting plate of the die casting machine. 2.4

The part of the die that moves with the opening and closing of the die mounting plate of the die casting machine. 2.5
cavity
The cavity used to fill the molten alloy and form the casting after the die is closed (see 13 in Figure 1). 2.6
parting line
The contact surface on the die that can be separated from the casting and the gating system solidified material. 2.7

3.3 Core pulling parts
Angle pin
