Note 6: This table includes some foreign syllables. 5 Details
5.1 Chinese character translation of place names
5.1.1 Proper names (including common names that have been transformed into proper names) are generally transliterated. 2 When the proper name is monosyllabic, add the corresponding common name according to the geographical characteristics. 5.1.2
When the consonant ng is combined with ia, the characters in row i plus “亚” are used to translate it. 5.1.4m is treated as n before b or p.
5.1.5Translation of consonant ng
The characters in the consonant ng column are only applicable to the beginning of a word. MZ/T1272019
When the consonant ng is combined with a vowel in a syllable other than the beginning of a word, ng is assigned to the preceding syllable, and the vowel after ng is translated separately. When ng and g appear at the same time, ng is combined with the preceding syllable, and g is combined with the following syllable. 5.1.6 When gh or nj is in a word, if g or n can form a vowel combination with the preceding vowel, g or n will be spelled with the preceding syllable, and h or j will be spelled with the following vowel.
p, t, k, h are generally not translated at the end of a closed syllable. If there are a large number of duplicate names, they will be translated as appropriate. The connecting symbol "_" in place names is deleted when translating, and the Chinese characters are written together. If the syllable before the connecting symbol can be combined with the syllable after the connecting symbol, they will be combined according to the pronunciation rules. 5.1.9 The same vowels (excluding the vowel combinations in Table 1) appearing in place names can be combined into one vowel transliteration. If two or more different vowels appear in parallel in a place name, they should be translated separately except for those listed in Table 1. 5.1.10
If two identical consonants appear in a place name, they will be transliterated as one consonant. 2. Paraphrasing of modifiers in proper names (such as those indicating direction, size, etc.) (see Appendix A). 5.1.12
For the same geographical entity name that is different in Indonesia from that in my country, the standard place name in the latest official Chinese maps, place name directories, place name dictionaries, place name records and other documents shall prevail. See Table 2 for examples of Chinese translation of place names.
