This standard is a revision of JB5086-91 "Technical Conditions for Ceramic Graphite Series Water Seals for Internal Combustion Engines". Compared with JB5086-91, the main technical content of this standard has been changed as follows: the working conditions and corresponding requirements of enhanced water seals have been added; the dynamic sealing performance requirements and product warranty period have been improved. This standard is a part of the series of standards JB/T5086-1999 "Water Seal for Internal Combustion Engines", which includes the following two parts:

Specifications for cooling water pump se also seals This standard specifies the classification, naming, definition, symbols, requirements and inspection rules of water jets. This standard applies to the porcelain graphite series water seals (hereinafter referred to as water seals) of cooling water pumps of internal combustion engines. 2 Referenced Standards

3.1 Classification

Water seals are classified according to the degree of reinforcement and structural type, and include three structures and five varieties such as A, B, C, QB and QC. 3.2 Type and name
The type and group and part names of water seals shall comply with the provisions of Table 1. 3.3 Naming
Water seals are named in the order of degree of reinforcement, structural type, basic diameter, installation size number, rotating ring type (O-shaped rotating ring is not marked) and standard code.
3.4 Marking examples
a) Type A, basic diameter is 15mm, installation dimension number is 02, rotating ring is T-shaped, its marking is: A1502TJB/T 5086.11999
b) Enhanced type B, basic diameter is 17mm, installation dimension number is 01, rotating ring is O-shaped, its marking is: QB1701JB/T 5086.1—1999

24' "Limited range" is used to control the axial dimension deviation of relevant parts on the water pump, so that its influence on the measured value of the basic length of the water seal is limited to the range of this table.

This standard adopts the following definitions.
4.1 Working length A

5 Requirements
5.1 The water seal shall comply with the requirements of this standard and be manufactured in accordance with the product drawings and technical documents approved by the prescribed procedures. 5.2 Environmental conditions

5.3.2 In addition to the above materials, other materials can be used with the consent of both parties if they can meet the performance requirements specified in this standard after testing and identification.
5.4 Manufacturing and appearance
5.4.1 The main installation dimensions of the water seal B (BO), D, (D,0), D, and the inner diameter of the C-type water seal transmission seat and the pump shaft should comply with the product drawing requirements.

The flatness and surface roughness of the sealing end faces of the rotating ring and the stationary ring shall comply with the provisions of Table 5. 5.4.2

5.4.3 When the water seal is at the basic T. operating length, the assembly elastic force deviation is less than 20% of the basic value. 5.4.4 Appearance and sensory requirements
Stationary ring
The surface of rubber parts and stamping parts should be smooth and flat. Rubber parts should be free of defects such as inclusions, bubbles, damage, etc.: stamping parts should be free of defects such as wrinkles and cracks; rotating rings and stationary rings should not have cracks: the stationary ring should move freely along the axial direction without any sense of obstruction. 5.5 Performance in use
5.5.1 Airtightness
When the water seal is tested for airtightness, its average leakage is not more than 10ml/min. 5.5.2 Dynamic sealing performance
When the water seal is tested for dynamic sealing, its average leakage is not more than 2g/h. 5.5.3 Durability
When the water seal is tested for durability, its average leakage is not more than 0.15g/h, and the average wear of the stationary ring is not more than 0.35μm/h. 5.5.4 Warranty period
If the user selects a reasonable model and complies with the warranty, installation and use rules specified by the manufacturer, the warranty period of the water seal shall be greater than 3000h (Type A is allowed to be reduced to 2000h) within 12 months from the date of shipment from the manufacturer. 5.6 Installation requirements

6 Test method
The water seal test shall be carried out in accordance with the provisions of JB/T5086.2. 7 Inspection rules
7.1 The water seal shall be inspected and qualified by the quality inspection department of the manufacturer before it can leave the factory. 7.2 Factory inspection
The water seal shall be inspected in accordance with the requirements of 5.4.1, 5.4.2, 5.4.3, 5.4.4 and 5.5.1 before leaving the factory. Note: The inspection of the flatness and surface roughness of the sealing end face shall be carried out before the airtightness test. 7.3 Type inspection
The manufacturer shall carry out type inspection of the product at least once every two years in accordance with the technical requirements specified in this standard. 7.4 When the user needs to inspect the materials of the water seal parts, the manufacturer shall provide the physical and mechanical properties data of various materials. 7.5 The water seal shall be delivered and inspected in batches, and the items of the delivery inspection shall be the same as the factory inspection. When the ordering unit conducts random inspection of product quality, it shall be carried out in accordance with the provisions of GB/T2828. The inspection level IL and the qualified quality level AQL value shall be agreed upon by the supply and demand parties. 8 Marking, packaging, storage
8.1 Each set of water seals shall be marked with:
a) manufacturer's name or factory logo;
b) product model.

The marking shall be clear, and the marked position, size and method shall comply with the product drawings or technical documents. 8.2 When the water seal leaves the factory, it shall be accompanied by a certificate signed by the manufacturer's quality inspection department and inspection personnel. The certificate shall indicate: a) manufacturer's name:
b) product name and model;
c) inspection date.
8.3 The water seals shall be placed firmly in the packaging box in a certain number. The water seals in each packaging box shall be of the same model. The outside of the box should be marked with: a) manufacturer's name, factory logo and address;
b) product name, model and quantity;
c) "moisture-proof", "handle with care" and other signs. 8.4 The boxed water seal should be securely placed in a cardboard box or wooden box to ensure that the parts will not be lost or damaged during transportation. 8.5 The product instruction manual and packing list should be attached to the packaging box, and the outside of the packaging box should be marked with: a) product name, model and quantity:
b) manufacturer's name and address;
e) gross weight, kg;
d) consignee and address:
e) factory date;
f) "handle with care", "moisture-proof", "pressure-averse" and other signs. 8.6 The water seal should be placed in a ventilated and dry warehouse, away from fire sources, and avoid contact with acid and storage. Under normal storage conditions, the manufacturer guarantees that the water seal will not rust or fail within 12 months from the date of leaving the factory.6 Installation requirements

6 Test methods
The water seal test shall be carried out in accordance with the provisions of JB/T5086.2. 7 Inspection rules
