This standard applies to the safety of household and similar electrical humidifiers with a rated voltage not exceeding 250V, which humidify indoor air by evaporation or atomization of water.
Note 1: Evaporation is obtained by heating water or by spraying humidifying air through a humidifying element. Humidifiers not intended for household use but intended for use by laymen in shops, light industry and farms are also included in the scope of this standard as long as they may be dangerous to the public. As far as practical, this standard deals with humidifiers that are used in the home and within the reach of all persons and that present a danger to the public. This standard does not normally take into account:
the use of the appliance by unsupervised children or infirm persons;
the use of the appliance by children as a toy.
NOTE 2: The following facts should be noted!
Humidifiers used in vehicles, ships or aircraft may, if necessary, have additional requirements; humidifiers used in tropical areas may, if necessary, have special requirements. In many countries, additional requirements are laid down by the national health authorities, the national labor protection authorities and similar authorities. Normal operation
The appliance is filled with the maximum amount of water as required by the instructions for use. Unless the appliance is connected to a water supply and the water addition is automatically controlled. For electrode-type humidifiers, the resistivity of the water should be about 5000·cm at 20℃±5℃. Note: The conductivity can be obtained by adding ammonium phosphate to the water. 2.101 Electrode-type humidifier Electrode-type appliance The conductive liquid in the appliance is heated by the current flowing through it.
