National Standard of the People's Republic of China Identification cards Recording technique Part 1: Embossing GB/T 15120. 1 --- 94 ISO 7811/1---1985 This standard is equivalent to the International Standard ISO) 7811/1--1985 "Identification cards recording technology Part 1: Embossing". 0 Introduction This standard is one of a series of standards that describe the parameters of the identification cards defined in Chapter 3 below and the use of identification cards in international exchange. 1 Subject content and scope of application This standard specifies the requirements for embossed characters on identification cards. Embossed characters are used for data transmission, which can be transmitted by embossing machine or by visual or machine reading. Referenced standards GB12053 Alphanumeric character set for optical recognition Part 1: Shape and size of printed image of OCR-A character set GB12508 Alphanumeric character set for optical recognition Part 2: Shape and size of printed image of OCR-B character set GB/T14916 Physical characteristics of identification cards GB/T15120.3 Identification card recording technology Part 3: Position of embossed characters on ID-1 type cards SJ/Z9079 (IS(1831) Printing specification for optical character recognition 3 Terminology The terms "identification cards" given in GB/T14916 and the following terms apply to this standard. Embossing Make the characters prominently protrude from the front of the card. Visually and machine-readable characters 4.1 Character sets and fonts The embossed characters shall use numeric characters belonging to the following fonts, which can be read directly from the card or visually and/or machine through the card's embossing [see Appendix A (Supplement): OCR-A size I and N in GB12053; OCR-B size 1 and V in GB12508; 7B fonts described in Appendix B (Supplement) and Appendix C (Supplement). Note: In the selection of fonts, in order to ensure the compatibility of the system, the user should pay attention to the coordination with its possible exchange parties. The printing specifications are given in SJ/Z9079. 4.2 Character spacing Approved by the State Administration of Technical Supervision on 1994-D7-16 and implemented on 1995-03-01 The character spacing shall meet the following requirements: a. Nominal spacing: 3.63mm; GB/T 15120.1—94 Minimum spacing between two consecutive characters: 3.48mm. b. 4.3 Character height Including factors such as center line skew and uneven character height, the maximum height of the embossed character on the printed surface should be 4.32mm. 4.4 Relief height of embossed characters The height of the embossed character surface on the card surface should be 0.48_.n5mm. Visually readable characters (These characters are not necessarily machine readable) 5.1 Character set and font Embossed characters should use fonts such as G The alphanumeric fonts of size CCR-B in B12508 can be read directly from the card or visually through the card's embossing. 5.2 Character Spacing The character spacing should meet the following requirements: a. Nominal spacing: 2.54mm; b. Minimum spacing between two consecutive characters: 2.46mm.5.3 Undulating Height of Embossed Characters The undulating height of the embossed character surface on the card surface should be 0.46-8.05mm.5 The graphic representation of digital data is as follows: GB/T 15120. 1—94 Appendix A Graphical Representation of Digital Data (Supplement) 0323456789 OCR·A 0123456789 0123456789 Not to scale. B17B Font Character Set Appendix B 7B Typographical Specifications (Supplement) 7B font consists of the following characters: digits 0 to 9. Character size of printed image Nominal character height is 3.81mm (center line); nominal character width is 2.03mm (center line); nominal stroke width is 0.51mm; Maximum stroke width is 0.76mm; Minimum stroke width is 0.25mm. B3 character spacing and alignment GB/T 15120. 1—94 When printing, the nominal spacing of characters is 7 characters/25.4mm. The minimum horizontal spacing between adjacent characters is 0.38mm. The vertical non-alignment between adjacent characters should not exceed 2.03mm. Character skew should not exceed 3 The cumulative line skew should not exceed the printing area limit specified in GB/T15120.3. B4 Printing Characteristics B4.1 Water Density For optimum performance, the water-free (carbon density) of the printed characters shall be such that the reflectivity of the characters does not exceed 20% of the average reflectivity of the document on which the characters are printed. In the worst case, the ink density of the printed characters must be such that the reflectivity does not exceed 60% of the average reflectivity of the document on which the characters are printed. Note: Reflectivity is measured using a small hole measuring 0.20 mm2 on the document with incident light at 45° relative to the document surface and a viewing angle of 90°. The acceptable ink voids and acceptable excess spots specified in B4.2 and B4.3 are exceptions to the ink density requirements. B4.2 Ink voids Any part of the printed character with a reflectivity exceeding 60% of the average reflectivity of the document on which the characters are printed shall be considered to be ink density. Areas are all de-inked De-inking is acceptable as long as the de-inking is completely contained within a circle with a diameter of 0.25mm, the minimum spacing between the center of the de-inking is 0.71mm, and as long as the actual minimum effective stroke width dimension is not less than 0.20mm. Unacceptable de-inking is not allowed. B4.3 Extra spots Extra spots are any spots in the printed area or blank area but not in the stroke of a printed character, where the reflectivity in the area is less than 60% of the average reflectivity of the document where the spots appear. Extra spots are acceptable as long as the extra spots are completely contained within a circle with a diameter of 0.25mm, and the minimum spacing between the center of two extra spots is 0.71mm. Unacceptable extra spots are not allowed. B4. 4 Printing The deformation of the document surface caused by printing should not exceed 0.13mm.
