This standard is a revision of GB8409-87 based on ISO6415 "Dimensions of Spin-on Oil Filters for Internal Combustion Engines" (1990 Edition) of the International Organization for Standardization. The technical content is the same as that of the international standard. GB8409-87 is drafted in accordance with ISO6415 (1981 Edition). This revision mainly modifies the following technical contents:
Added a reference standard;
Added relevant requirements for sealing surfaces;

If the bypass valve has been arranged on the engine body in the engine design, the spin-on oil filter installed on this engine may not be equipped with a bypass valve.
