1 Scope
Environmental conditions for application of electrical and electronic products
Part 5: Use in ground vehicles
GB/T4798.5—2007
This part classifies the environmental conditions for products installed in ground vehicles but not forming part of the vehicle. Such products include: communication systems, taximeters, flow meters for vehicles transporting liquids such as milk and petroleum products, etc. Vehicles where products are permanently or temporarily installed include: road vehicles: station wagons, commercial vehicles, special vehicles, tractors, trailers, motor vehicles, motorcycles, etc.; rail vehicles: locomotives, trams, cranes, etc.; off-road vehicles: four-wheel drive vehicles, tractors, snowplows, etc.; loading and unloading and storage vehicles: forklifts (manual and automatic), luggage carts, etc.; self-propelled machinery: excavators, harvesters, etc. Although this part does not apply to products that form part of the vehicle, the classification of environmental conditions may also apply to interchangeable products, which are installed in the same way in the same part of the vehicle but do not form part of the vehicle. This part only includes severe conditions that are harmful to the product. Storage and transportation conditions are given in GB/T4798.1-2005 and GB/T4798.2-1996. The purpose of this part is to classify environmental conditions and grade their severity. Products installed in ground vehicles will be exposed to the above environmental conditions during use.
This part gives a limited number of environmental condition levels, but covers a wide range of applications. The lowest level covered should be selected based on the environmental conditions of product use. Appendix A gives guidance on use. 2 Normative references
The clauses in the following documents become clauses of this part through reference to this part of GB/T4798. For any dated referenced document, all subsequent amendments (excluding errata) or revisions are not applicable to this part, however, parties to an agreement based on this part are encouraged to study whether the latest versions of these documents can be used. This part is used simultaneously with GB/T4798.10-2006; the terms and definitions established in GB/T11804-2005 apply to this part. The degree of extremes specified in this part is unlikely to be exceeded. All specified values are maximum values or limit values. These values may be reached, but will not occur frequently. Different places of use have different probabilities of occurrence for a specific period. This part does not include these situations, but they can be considered as environmental parameters. If necessary, additional provisions can be made. The probability and duration of occurrence are specified in GB/T4798.10-2006. 1
GB/T4798.5-2007
It should be noted that the combination of environmental parameters will increase the effect on the product. This is especially true when high relative humidity is accompanied by biological conditions, chemical and mechanical active substances.
Classification of environmental parameter groups and their severity levels
This part gives limited levels. Climatic conditions (K), special climatic conditions (Z), biological conditions (B), chemically active substances (C), mechanically active substances (S), contaminated liquids (F) and mechanical conditions (M) are shown in Table 1, Table 1A, Table 2, Table 3, Table 4, Table 5 and Table 6 respectively. For a given product, the level combination should consist of a series of environmental condition levels, such as 5K2/5B1/5C3/5S2/5F1/5M2. The basis for these levels is explained in Appendix A, A, 2. Climatic conditions for tropical areas are specified in the 5K5 and 5K6 grades and explained in Appendix B. The lowest grade combination 5K1/5B1/5C1/5S1/5F1/5M1 constitutes the installation conditions for the following products: the products are installed in vehicles designed to operate smoothly under strictly controlled conditions (indoors). The highest grade combination 5K4/5B3/5C3/5S3/5F3/5M3 covers installation in many types of vehicles, including very harsh areas. For some environmental parameters and grades, special grades are given for products installed in the engine compartment. Higher numerical grades usually include lower numerical grades. For some parameters, quantitative severity levels cannot yet be given. For an explanation of the severity levels, see A.3 in Appendix A.

Instructions for selecting environmental parameters and their severity levels GB/T4798.5—2007
This appendix explains the basis for environmental levels, gives instructions for selecting environmental parameters and their severity levels, and explains the environmental conditions covered by each environmental level.
A.2 Description of use sites
For each environmental parameter, various possible use sites that constitute different environmental levels are given and sorted in increasing order of severity. The first column from the left of Tables A.1 to A.6 describes the use sites. The "×" in the vertical column under the level item represents that the corresponding level is applied to the use site, and the first "×" from the left represents the lowest level applicable to the use site. The above procedure for selecting the appropriate environmental level applies to all clauses in this appendix, but A.2.1 contains additional factors for climate types, which should be paid special attention to.
The lowest level of a place of use in a certain climate type can be determined by looking to the right along the row where the first "×" of the climate type and the place of use is located, and the level corresponding to the first "×" in the level column. The climate types specified in GB/T4797.1 are as follows: extreme cold (excluding the center of Antarctica), cold, cold temperature, warm temperature, dry heat, moderate dry heat, extremely dry heat, humid heat, and constant humid heat. The climate types of my country and the corresponding relationship with the climate types of IEC are shown in Appendix C. It should be pointed out that for each single parameter, the place of use corresponding to a certain level does not mean that the level represents the minimum environmental severity of the place of use.
Note: It does not include emergencies. In some cases, the probability of emergencies should be considered. A.2.1 Climate conditions (K)
Table A.1 describes the application list of climate environment parameters and places of use, climate types and climate condition levels. Table A.1 Climate conditions
