This standard specifies the commonly used terms for canned food industry technical equipment, special canned food machinery terms, vocabulary and commonly used related terms (Appendix A).

3 General terms
3.1 Cans, tins
A can is a sealed container made of metal sheets, glass, plastic, cardboard or a combination of some of the above materials. Commercially sterile food can be kept at room temperature for a long time without spoiling. This type of packaged food is called a can. 3.2 Hermetically sealed can A can that can prevent the invasion of microorganisms, so that the sterilized contents meet the hygienic requirements, or can prevent the contents from being affected by external air and moisture.
3.3 Double seam can
A can with a double seam formed by the can body made of metal sheets and the end caps at both ends. The curling edge is formed by hooking and pressing two layers of can body metal and three layers of end cover metal plates together through curling.
