This standard specifies the outer dimensions and mass limits of transport packages for transport by road, rail, water and air transport. This standard applies to the design and transportation of transport packages for road, rail, water and air transport.
This standard replaces GB/T16471-1996 "Dimension Limits of Transport Packages" and GB/T18923-2002 "Mass Limits of Transport Packages".
Compared with GB/T16471-1996 and GB/T18923-2002, the main changes of this standard are as follows:

--- The general requirements and specific requirements are directly stated (see Chapter 3 and Chapter 4);

This standard applies to the design and transportation of transport packages transported by road, rail, water and air. 2 Normative references The clauses in the following documents become clauses of this standard through reference in this standard. For any dated referenced document, all subsequent amendments (excluding errata) or revisions are not applicable to this standard. However, parties that reach an agreement based on this standard are encouraged to study whether the latest versions of these documents can be used. For any undated referenced document, the latest version shall apply to this standard. GB/T1413 series 1 Classification, dimensions and rated mass of containers (GB/T1413-1998, idtISO668:1995) 3 General requirements The maximum length, width and height of transport packages used for road, rail, water and air transport should not exceed the transportable dimensions of the corresponding transport vehicles, and the maximum mass should not exceed its maximum load. 4 Specific requirements 4.1 Road transport 4.1.1 When the length, width and height of the transport package are less than 3360mm, 1600mm and 1650mm respectively and the mass is not more than 3000kg, it is applicable to the various vehicle types in Table 1 for transportation 4.1.2 When the vehicle type in Table 1 is used, the dimensions and mass of the transport package should be less than the minimum loadable space length, width, height and rated load of the vehicle compartment of the vehicle type, and the maximum dimensions and mass should be less than the maximum loadable space length, width, height and rated load of the vehicle compartment of the vehicle type, the internal dimensions and rated load of the vehicle compartment of the common road trucks, respectively. The rated load range is shown in Table 1. The internal dimensions and rated load of common road truck compartments are shown in Appendix A. When using a boxcar, the size of the transport package should be smaller than the minimum inner width, door width, and door height of the car, and the maximum size should be smaller than the maximum inner width, door width, and door height of the car.
