To implement the Environmental Protection Law of the People's Republic of China and the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Prevention and Control of Air Pollution, prevent and control the environmental pollution of residential areas caused by waste gas generated by industrial enterprises, and protect the health of the general public. This standard is formulated based on the principles of formulating health standards for harmful gases in the atmosphere, with reference to foreign research results, and based on the actual situation in my country. This standard shall be implemented from January 1, 2001. This standard is proposed by the Ministry of Health of the People's Republic of China. The drafting units of this standard are: Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine, School of Public Health of West China University of Medical Sciences, Shenyang Environmental Health Monitoring Institute, and Hubei Provincial Health and Epidemic Prevention Station.
The main drafters of this standard are: Li Sheng, Wang Jianqing, Liu Yunqing, and He Quan. This standard is entrusted by the Ministry of Health to the Environmental Health Monitoring Institute of the Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine for interpretation. 57
